chadlius88's Journal, 26 January 2016

Ever since I nearly tore my right trapezius 5 weeks ago I've had kind of a fear of deadlifting heavy. I was pulling 395 lbs. (only 10 lbs. more than my previous record) and something just tweaked, its a pretty freaky feeling.

I've been doing a lot of trap training on my shoulder days and I'm feeling strong, so I think I'm going to work up to a heavy double or triple tonight, depending on how I feel.

Its time to get my confidence back.

Its Leg Day, and Leg Day is always a good day.

I tore a ligament in my elbow in 2008 doing shrugs, and that was really the beginning of the end for me. It hurt for three years and by that time I had really packed the weight back on. Be careful lifting heavy, I knew better when I started and really paid for it.

Lifting heavy is perfectly safe as long as its done correctly and you don't go beyond your limits. That day I hit the line, luckily I didn't manage to cross it.

You can do it correctly and still get cocky and end up with an injury that will take years to recover from, but I digress, wasn't in any way trying to dissuade you.

Haha it wasn't taken that way Phil. I was basically agreeing with what you just said. I went for a new personal record that I wasn't ready for yet, and nearly paid the price.

It really messed up the stride I had hit when I got hit with the injury. Stupid thing was I had a work out partner that did the exact same thing about six months prior and didn't learn bumpkis from his mistake. Keep up the good fight, brother!
