Sweet Sydney is so lucky to have you. I always ask the vet "what would you do if she was your dog/cat?"

I thought I responded to you guys but now I dont see it. Anyway, thank you all for supporting me . It's comforting as not all family and friends think we are doing the right thing. 💜💜

I didnt want to put my thoughts on here about surgery but since you have decided to go ahead and do it i will share with you. I love my boys so much and would probably do just about anything for more time with them UNLESS the recovery was going to be as long and as painful as the extra time. I look at it like this—i would do whatever i could to not bring pain to my child and be with her as long as possible and i feel the reverse is also true. I know i know, they are dogs not humans but they are perfectly capable of just as much love as we feel and empathy and sadness and happiness and I feel that Sydney would want to be with you as long as possible also. I am truly glad you are going forward with the surgery. Let us know please when you have a date and extra prayers for sweet Sydney to sail thru the surgery and the recovery. And who knows? You may get an extra 3 or 4 years with her. We were told we would probably only get 6 months or so with precious little Keira and her genetically malfunctioning kidneys but we got 3 years which was over 2 years longer than anyone thought. And she was happy and loved and loving to the last day. O boy, now im getting teary. Im sorry you are going thru this but so happy Sydney has you and joe to love her thru it.

So glad you are going with the surgery, she seems to love you so and I am sure she will fight for every extra minute of time she can spend with you! Prayers for a successful surgery and a quick recovery for Sydney and for you to have your shadow follow you where-ever you go!

Absolutely it’s the right thing. We have spent a lot on getting extra time with our pets, and while others may have judged us, it was worth every penny. I hope you get as much more time as possible with Sydney. ❤️

YOH, I've heard that time and time again.....it's only a dog. The ones who say that have never truly bonded with a dog, looked at the pain and loneliness in the eyes of an abandoned shelter dog. Never looked in those eyes after you bring them home with you and give them the love and attention they needed, They live to be with you and they would die for you, they grieve with you, share your pain. It's a love that money can't buy or replace. They love you on your best days and they love you on your worst days. They lay on your chest and gaze into your eyes with the most adoring love. The ones who don't experience that, well, they have no idea what they are missing!

Do what you think needs done and don’t second guess yourself. It’s better to try and fail than to not try and regret it. Leave it in Gods hands. 🙏

When Dr told us she needed surgery we were on board but when we got here me and I googled it and the outcome is less optimistic I had second thoughts. Plus we got lots of opinions from others that it would be better to let her get, she'd never be the same, she is too old, etc..I spoke to Dr and he went over risks and recovery. Yes she is twelve but her lungs are clear and she is a fighter. Recovery is as usual with surgery and she will have a partial bladder so she will have to go out more often to pee. We can deal with that. And as far as time left with her, well we will take what we can get. On the flip side, if something happens, at least we tried. We have tried so hard to give her a good and loving home and I know she is aware of that. She is truly our baby...🙏💜
