girlygirlatheart's Journal, 02 September 2009

Its September and there is so much to look forward to this time of year.
It always seems that January-May is always a drag for me. I like July-December much, much more.

So, I wrote a manuscript. YAY! Haha... ahhhh, yeah. Now the real work begins. Finding an agent who will represent me to have my work published is SOOOOO HARD!
Its a 75,000-word, Young Adult fictional novel, geared more (if not 100%) toward teenage to mid-twenty year old girls.
In my very humble opinion, the tone is quirky, witty, and a little crazy but even more comical. However, there are some very serious issues, too. Its just that my main character has a habit of making fun of herself. She's a sarcastic, fiery, feisty and sassy little redhead. Oh, and shes FAT ;]

Anyways, no more book talk. I have started school again, and that is certainly keeping me busy. I am enjoying life, and taking everything nice and slow.

Thats pretty much it haha Nothing else has really changed. Soon though, it really should. By this weekend, I should know what steps I am taking next on the path of life.

I really miss all the support I have gotten from my buddies. Maybe I can try to at least get online 2-3 times a week now lol
I hope everyone else is staying healthy, too.
Take care of yourself.

you wrote a novel...wow! that's exciting! is it your first one? I hope you'll find an editor. that must be the hardest part of the process (because it's not only you and your book at this point), to find someone who is going to like the novel, and be ready to publish it. I wish you good luck!

Yes, it is my first! I've been writing for a long time, but this is my first novel, and it was definitely challenging. So, now comes the business part of writing. Ugghhh. I really appreciate your encouragement. Thank you!

I am a children's book editor. And an agent is definetly the best way to go. That is, unless you want to self-publish and do the promotion yourself (which can be done!). My suggestion is to read and re-read your script. Have someone else proofread it. Write a really GREAT cover letter that stands out. Send it out to as many agents as you can. And remember-- Twilight was rejected a million times before Little Brown and Co picked it up. Keep it up!
