Its Monday Night. Well, technically, its Tuesday.

I just got home from taking dad to the airport. He'll be gone 10 days for a business trip.

Today's work out was wonderful. I did circuit training, and then 30 minutes on the treadmill. The circuit training was exhausting, but felt so good. I am pretty sore haha I'm looking forward to wednesday when I go for it again.

I need to work on eating foods that keep me full. I couldnt seem to tame my hunger today. It was driving me crazy! I was ready to eat anything I could get my hand on just to make my stomach stop gurgling!
Tonight, I ate a salad with shrimp for an early dinner around 4 and by 5 I was hungry again. I was very, very frustrated. So I decided to eat an english muffin, figuring that the fiber in that would hold me over.
I dont know why, but I was so hungry all day! After I ate a sandwich around 7:30, I was STILL hungry. I was so sick of that feeling, so I went into the kitchen and looked for something that I thought would make my stomach shut the hell up. I ate some prunes and then wanted something crunchy, so I dove into the celery. I finally felt satisfied, but it didnt last long.

I've had this problem before, and have found I've had the best experience with high-fiber carbs paired with some kind of protein or healthy fat. The double fiber english muffins and almond butter will keep me full for about 4 hours. Thats a long time for me. I'm usually hungry after only two hours. But then again, I tend to eat pretty small portions that are about 225-250 calories.
Bread is so calorie-dense though. And i think I would get tired of eating it so often. Uggghhhh. Carbs like fruit and vegetables dont do anything for me on the fullness scale. I LOVE salads, but after only an hour of eating them, I feel like I didnt eat at all. The same goes if I eat just fruit or just veggies, or just some protein.

Does anyone have some suggestions? I know I have asked a million times haha but I need helllllppppp!
I've tried googling it, and a lot of sites say to eat lots of fiber. But I am!
So now I am totally lost lol

I'm so excited about circuit training now. I like it alot, its a real challenge, and I can definitely feel a difference. I really hope it works and I start to see results. Should be really fun :]

A dab of peanut butter with your celery or an apple may help. I do that myself when I have those crazy can't fill the hole feeling...a hard boiled egg is another good option or a small pc of cheese-I like the babybels they have at the grocery store because they are a perfect size and stop me from over eating cheeses (which I LOVE). One thing that really seems to curb my hunger is a half cup cottage cheese with a tablespoon of almonds and dried cranberries added.

Sometimes I think a little higher fat along with some protein helps but I don't really know. I have those times too when I am just hungry, hungry, hungry!! I like to think it is my body's way of letting me know it needs more fuel, for whatever reason. A long time ago I read something Dr. McDougall wrote about making sure to eat when your body tells you it is hungry and not worrying about calories as long as you are putting "good" food/fuel into it. So complex carbs, good proteins, healthy fats, real foods ... are the choices I try to make. Many of the choices Dawn describes have also worked for me. If you know it is physcial hunger then I think you should try NOT to FRET about needing to eat more. Good luck with that ... I know it is difficult.

Broccoli has been said to help feel full. I read an article about cottage cheese on a whole wheat bagel. I feel the same way...hungry hungry hungry....it's like today I know I will be eating a piece of cake for my hubby's b-day so I am skipping my afternoon snack I just don't want to over do it later for not snacking during the day.

I wish I had the answer to that... the only thing I can think of is your workout made you really hungry. The trainer I used would get mad at me and tell me I hadn't eaten enough. I am with Dawn with the hardboiled eggs- I always feel pretty full after one. Complex veggies with lots of vitamins are good too- but they usually need to be raw to be effective... Good luck, I'll check back to see if anyone else makes suggestions.

I put a little Almond butter on a wasa fiber crisp today and it held me over pretty well. Breakfast was three eggs and boy was I stuffed. I am trying a lot of protein today to see if it helps me, so far so good. I bought some beef jerky from walmart and the sam's choice brand was better in comparison to the jack's (?) brand. Yeah and the moist version of cardboard (tofu) comes later in my salad. I don't mind tofu...it looks like chicken, does have a weird consistancy. You know that if it's weird it's gotta be healthy right? LOL

I find when I add nuts like almonds to a meal, they help fill me up, but I go through times of being real hungry and it is usually when I have worked out more in a day... so up your intake if you work out a lot.. and of course drinking water helps as well. adding a salad to your meal instead of as a meal helps as well. for me anyway

I just found a new snack that is pretty filling and tasty. I take 2 WASA HEARTY CRISPBREAD's and spread 1 TBSP. of Sabra roasted red pepper hummus on each or, I use 2 wedges of the lowfat laughing cow cheese (35 cal/wedge) and spread one on each crisp bread and then top with salsa. That is filling and good all for less than 3.5 points. Hope this helps. At least you are making healthy snacking choices :)
