Day 4 with Mom:). Yesterday was a great day, as I knew it would be! Mom & I had a nice lunch with my aunt & cousin, and I had such fun as I always do with my bestie here & her daughter (my godchild). My godchild is expecting her first baby, and it's a girl! She's about halfway there, due late July/early Aug. They're coming to see me & spend a long weekend in NYC in just 2 weeks, so I'll see them then too!
I had a good conversation with my mom's social worker and set her up for now daily, regular check-ins. They'll help her with some of her recent technology issues -- setting her alarm clock, finding what she wants to watch on tv, etc. I'll feel better knowing someone is checking on her daily that I can also go to as things arise. Otherwise, mom' seems to be holding her own, has some close friends here, is active & goes regularly to bingo, cards, and many of the other social activities they have. She especially likes when they have live music and the regular Mon & Weds happy hour. Mom seems to sleep more than ever, but she is 86 years old.
Today I'm going to boot camp with my bestie & my godchild who teaches the class. We're having breakfast together after. I'll go to afternoon mass here, have my call with my health coach (re-scheduled from Monday when the vertigo struck) and have dinner out with my mom. I can't believe I fly home already tomorrow after taking mom out to breakfast. It's been a really great, short but sweet trip!
I'm feeling really good again, not sluggish this morning having finished he vertigo meds, and great about the trip so far & traveling home tomorrow. I've been staying my course gluten, lactose & sugar aware, and enjoying berries with hot tea in the evenings when I'm back in my room after the day. So, I'll start this day praying for serenity. And for this one day and through each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion, I'll pray, breathe, log, journal & express my way. I'm so eternally grateful for each and every one of you and can't say enough how much your love & support means to me always, but especially now while I'm away and visiting my mom. I'm also grateful for my family & IRL friends, especially those I'm getting to spend time with here, and continuing to have the health & wealth to live this life I love! Xoxox
