Well I got to work on my usual unit at work today after three days away on another unit thanks to the flu lockdown. It felt so good to be back where I belong. I work at a very unique retirement community. It has several buildings and many different units. I work in the main building where the long term care patients area at. But there are different units that all have different types of patients. My unit is alzheimers/dementia. When I say this place is unique , i truly mean that. Everyone is treated like it is their home. And we function like a small community. There are no visiting hours , families come whenever they want. The dining room is like a large kitchen that is all treated like a home. No hospital type meal trays. Its truly a great place and I love it. We have special meals once a month or so... And today was one ...

PIZZA HUT DAY ..... Really ??? My patients loved it ... they were so happy ... and they ate like it was going out of style . One lady was licking her plate clean .

I seriously puts vicks under my nose so I wouldnt smell it as much ... I know I am insane . We sit and eat with the patients usually. And some people need help just to eat. TEMPTATION ... And everyone saying , just have one piece, stop being so crazed about your food. GRRRRRRRR

I succeeded ... ate a huge salad ... and ate the topping off of a small peice of pizza ( cheese and banana peppers ) ... I was NOT gonna eat that pizza crust. And tiramisu for dessert ... NO THANKS .... I went for a walk : )

Good for you, never heard of using vicks like that;but if it works I'd do it too. lol I heard that having something peppermint or banana flavored is suppose to curb your hunger cravings too so I bought some banana and peppermint flavored chapstick. And keep peppermints handy. Actually I like the spearmint ones better.

Awesome post - I laughed at the Vicks! What a great idea! Something random I would do. I do the topping off the pizza too, just if I'm in that situation, but the huge salad is exactly the remedy for that. Good job staying strong and coming up with alternatives! Yay you!
