Hello all
I'm not a scientist Andy but have followed Atkins from the 70's, I know back then that he claimed even chewing a stick of gum could stall you going into ketosis. His books have changed and adjusted to the times but I still think it's not worth it to eat even a touch for the first few weeks.
Maybe you could get some ketostix from the drug store and see if your colour changes and if these small 'cheats' do effect you.

Maybe try this recipe and see how you like it, tweak it to seasonings etc and I would only make a 1/2 batch or even a 1/4 batch... it does go mouldy faster in the fridge than regular ketchup that has all those chemical preservatives in them...

Leave the peanuts out for now its only 2 - 4 weeks of your life and hopefully you'll have thousands more weeks in the future to enjoy that crunch.

Try making this if you need a salty crunchy snack.... kale or veggie chips. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/baked-kale-chips/ just don't overdue them, they become bitter if overcooked.

How do you prevent loose skin?
Mother Nature is a B*tch... you can exercise all you want, weight train, slather your body with whatever and Gravity still takes over!!! If you've carried the weight for a long time and the skin has been stretched out for a long period , there is nothing short of surgery when the weight is lost even at a slow pace. If you are young or are a lucky one to have great genes, take care of it while you can. prevention is the only alternative to surgery.

I'm 59 work out with a trainer once a week, do light cardio 4 days a week and weight training 3x a week, have done this for years, yet when i bend over and look down I still have 'elephant knees'... I hate it but my quads are strong and firm and it's just loose skin that will never snap back.

Here's my fav revue about Bio oil.........http://www.yummymummyclub.ca/blogs/dan-thompson-beauty-busted/20120831/bio-oil-busted

Salad dressing
I put my herbs in a coffee grinder and then into the liquids of the dressing. If they sit over night, the flavour are infused but yes, they still clog up and eventually I have to strain them out, but the flavour is still there.

Lately I've been just putting the herbs (torn basil leaves) straight in the salad and just spritzing with lime juice.

Another of my favourite treats with herbs is to chop up oregano, basil, rosemary and garlic and soften some butter. Mix all together and roll into a log. When my steak is cooked, or the chicken, take off grill to let it rest and put a pat of this butter on it and let it sit for 5 minutes .

Probably not good for your eating plan wholefoodnut but a low carb high fat follwer could try it!

Hello all
That's why I posted the food list and the induction rules here.

Very easy to save and yes you're right Wholefoodnut, they do send out a starter kit but they also include their Atkins bars which I don't agree with. They are processed and the sugar alcohols do cause many to stall.

Hello all
positive.... if you gained it back then something you ate contained sugar and you were not in ketosis. You say you were tracking your foods but I only see one day in your food journal.

I don't agree that water weight is not 'real.' if you weigh 180 lbs that's your weight despite the ratio of muscle/fat/water.... if you lose 10 lbs it's 10 lbs gone so it's real, even if it's water weight, then you move on to losing fat by going into ketosis.

If you are on induction then no fruit is allowed at all so C67241 she doesn't have to worry bout high glycemic stuff right now. , and I know its a small thing but you are allowed 5 olives not 10,, sodium in olives can cause you to retain water. Also only 1/4 cup raw onion, not a whole one, they are high in sugar too.

Hope this helps a little

good luck

d
