Weighed myself this morning. Something I typically don't do. For the first time in years the scale read 148 lbs. I typically only weigh myself in the evening as that's usually my heaviest. By tonight it'll probably be back up to 150 - 152 lbs.

One other thing I've started doing in addition to Shangra-La. I'm taking L-Tyrosine capsules per "The Diet Cure". L-Tyrosine is the amino the body needs to make thyroid hormones. I break a 500 mg capsule open under my tongue. I've noticed a similar effect to the sugar water. Within 10 - 15 minutes of taking a capsule if I'm hungry the hunger disappears and stays gone for 1.5 - 2 hours.

Very interesting about the L-Tyrosine. There is another supplement that I heard about that supposedly does something similar, as far as appetite suppression. Gymnema sylvestre. Supposedly when you eat it, it interferes with the tongue/mouth to taste sugar, so if you eat a cookie right after, you won't want it because it'll be tasteless. No idea of it's true or not. I should post something in my journal to hear if people have tried it.

I've taken Gymnema Sylvestre as hole leaf herb mixed in water. It's not that it changes sweet to tasteless. It's that anything that normally tastes sweet becomes very bitter. This is true whether it's 'real' sugar or one of the sugar substitutes. Really unpleasantly bitter. In India it's name translates to english as 'the sweetness killer'. I didn't get hungry as quickly after taking it as usual. I also noticed I ONLY got these benefits by taking it as whole-leaf herb. The same herb in capsules did absolutely nothing for me. It didn't even kill the sweet taste. Perhaps it's just because I took more of the fresh herb than of the capsules. *shrug*
