skirch97's Journal, 09 July 2013

I was looking through old journals yesterday to see if I had measurements at this weight before. This is what I weighed when I got pregnant with my 2nd kid, but I'm in a smaller size now. Thinking I have more muscle as I've been working out pretty regularly. Anyhoo I couldn't find measurements logged in my journals, a couple notations of I lost *this many* inches, so somewhere written down are measurements, not that big a deal that I'm going to try to find them, lol. It was a bit eye opening to see that I have some of the same journals in 2009 that I do today, for example stop with the soda and chips in the morning. Good Lord I've been eating that crap for breakfast for 4 years. Grow up already! So in light of his reading, I think I need to approach this "diet" thing from a different angle, rather than it be a diet, don't eat this don't eat that I'm going to view it as a lifestyle change. The changes I make will be forever, not just to lose weight, but to be healthy forever. I'm a grown up, not a highschool kid who eats junk food all the time (maybe occasionally, but not all the time :) This will be my new mindset!! Another eye opener was seeing that from March 2011 to September 2011 I gained 27lbs. I'm not sure how that was possible (no I wasn't pregnant!), but I know 2011 was extremely stressful for me and I was very depressed most of the year. Obviously I ate my feelings and didn't move! Another lifestyle change, be positive! Even if don't feel positive, I'm going to fake it until I feel it!

Started another challenge last night. I am very much enjoying the squat challenge, so I started the one hundred pushups challenge last night. I saw someone mention it and checked out the website. Interesting! I did Day 1 yesterday and could really feel it across my chest, back, arms, and abs. My abs even feel a bit more pulled in today!

Happy Tuesday!

It's funny how much things can change with our attitudes. I know I get super stressed around the holidays and I was doing great last year at this time, and then November hit and the weight started going back up. Like you said this is a lifestyle change, so if we view it as that and try to eat and exercise more for our health and do things that we can stick with forever then we have a better chance at sticking with it. I should look into the push-up challenge. I am not very good at them, but maybe by the end I would be. Good luck!!

Good for you! Isn't great that you have these journals to reflect on and have an "oh" moment. Take the lifestyle change slow and then it won't be a shock to you. It takes at least 2 weeks to form a habit. Good luck with the changes. Glad to hear you are enjoying the squat challenge. I should look into the pushup challenge. Do you do the full pushup or modified?

The holidays did me in too! I'm hoping this year I can be better organized, less stressed, and well into new lifestyle habits that I don't gain a bunch. I'm not very good at push ups either and don't have much upper body strength, so I thought I'd give this challenge a try. I don't know that I will be able to do 100, but I should be stronger by the end of the challenge!

Hi aggie. I did a full push up, but you can do the modified for the challenge too. Has even more modified ones than I knew of as examples. The website is onehundredpushup.com.
