Divided By Zero's Journal, 04 September 2008

I don't really watch TV. Well, I should clarify that... I don't really watch television shows, but I waste a lot of time in front of the TV because I'm a video game nerd.

But once a year I actually dust off the remote and tune in for one show. It's a guilty pleasure of mine. The only show I've actually watched in the last few years is "The Biggest Loser". I am an addict. I have seen every season, and if they aired the international versions, I would watch those as well (even the non English speaking ones... I'm that much of an addict).

In case you're not a BL junkie like me, the new season (U.S. version) starts September 16th. I'm already excited about it. It's weird... I'm such a big fan of that show but I've never really put the same sort of mindset into practice. Well, I've ate better here and there, even trained for and ran a 5K with my brother, but it's always been short lived. I've never really set out on a long term program like I'm doing now.

Every time I've tried to eat better I usually hit a wall at about 3 or 4 weeks and undo all the good I've accomplished. But I've been making a lot of changes and doing even more thinking... and I'm not really worried about it this time. It's hard to explain, but things are just coming together for me. Honestly, this site may have been the missing link. It's a constant reminder of what I'm doing, and a great source of inspiration. Just reading other peoples' thoughts, strategy, etc. helps me in where I need to go. So to everyone on my buddies list, thank you.

I feel the same way! I wrote something about that a few days ago...how it feels different this time. Congrats to you for being in the same mind-set. I'm excited about Biggest Loser! I like that they're doing teams again this year, but I wish they would have let any sort of team join, instead of just families.

Not a Biggest Loser fan (we actually finally cut the cable at the beginning of the year because neither I, nor my husband watch it). I do want to comment because I see some great things in your internal mental switch in your mind!! I think this site will help me a great deal as well. It keeps me focused and connected. Glad to share the journey with you! From one gamer to another (though I usually go for the PC games as opposed to consoles)

I didn't really get into BL until last season when a guy from the company I work for was on the show. I didn't know him (it's a big company and he was from the opposite coast) but I read about him in our company news letters and I felt like I knew him and his twin brother. He ended up winning and now he is the head of our national wellness department. I find it very inspiring.

Right....except that Ali won. And they didn't have twins last year, did they?

His twin brother, Jim, was on the show with him and won the call-back weigh-in.

Yup, Bill won the big prize, and his brother Jim (a cop, I believe) won the secondary prize (most weight loss after being kicked out).

I used to watch the Biggest Loser, but honestly, I just don't get that in-tuned with the TV any more. Like you, generally the only time spent in front of the TV is for one video game or another. Even the shows I'm "in to" I find that I only watch for a few weeks and then never remember when they're on. LOL! Life's busy and I refuse to be strapped to the TV on certain days/nights for a show. But I will say that I agree completely with you about this site. It's my constant reminder too. My accountability for my actions. And I LOVE reading all the wonderful postings from everyone and all their inspiring words. (I'd have to say I'm very impressed with you - always so encouraging to everyone you post comments for.) Keep up the good work!!

"always so encouraging to everyone you post comments for" Don't tell nobody... I'll lose my tough-guy street cred. LOL!
