Fearfully got on the scale today, afraid to see I was in the 140's and that yesterday was a weird blip. NO! :) 139.8 still. Mostly worried as although I kept my calories under 1300, I only did the Crunch Resculpt workout. Which is 40 min. long, but burns hardly any calories. I really need to do cardio in order to get the heart rate up and be able to burn some calories. I know the sculpting is necessary and I do enjoy it, and I'll probably do more of that once I reach goal than cardio - but for fat burning- I have to do cardio. I only burned 2,000 calories yesteday, but then again, my husband and I had a Sopranos marathon going :)
Knees are still sore...they are ALWAYS sore, but still a bit more painful than usual. This is how they felt back in Dec. and Jan. and i kept plugging away then, so no reason not to now. I really try to pay attention to form, making sure my knee doesn't go past my toes on the lunges and squats, and make sure my weight is on my forward heel when I do a forward lunge, and on the toes of my rear foot when I do a backward lunge. So...not sure what else to do. I also use knee braces on both knees (and now usually a back brace, too! Getting old isn't fun!) but maybe I should go back to icing them when I'm finished. That worked then and it works when we overdo it on hikes. Oh hiking....how I miss you!!! I cannot wait until mid Sept. or so. We'll be able to hike in Sedona again by then, and probably the Superstitions by mid Oct. or so. Such great exercise that I find SO enjoyable! I'm getting impatient with the fat layer on my legs and butt! I need SOME, I know, but I feel all these incredible muscles under there on my legs and want to SEE them better :)
I did the cardio 1 & 2, followed by the 50 min. + of Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism, then swiffered the floors and vacuumed. By the time I'd finnished that, I'd burned about 800 calories, but that was spread out over probably three hours. So I'd have burned probably 250 calories doing nothing...But I love it when I work out - burned 2600 calories yesterday :)

Hiking sounds wonderful. I would love to take the family hiking one day soon, although we'd have to leave the state of Florida b/c it's all flat!! I'll be in California in a few weeks so maybe I can get some hiking in then. There are so many beautiful places to hike where I'm going. Lake Berryessa for one! Simply beautiful:) Thanks for the encouraging words you left on my last journal entry! I appreciate it:)

Oohh...I just Googled Lake Berryessa and it looks beautiful! I'm sure you'll have a blast there. I'm a CA native but hadn't heard of it, so I wanted to find out where it is....a mere HOUR away from Napa! The heart of wine country in CA. Any chance of wine tasting when you're there? :) And you're welcome for the comments - your sort of attitude encourages all of us here. Especially if we happen to be having a bad day at the time - read a journal entry like yours today and voila! A sense of "positiveness" comes flooding back (yeah...I don't think that's a word, either, but it should be!:)

Hi redwinelover. I take it your knees are always sore even after a protracted rest period. I wonder why that would be. The attention to form as you described it would seem to preclude the possibility that you might be pushing them too hard. A good, pounding run could do damage as well, but I'm sure that you have eliminated that as a possibility. From the day we are born, we begin getting old. Some of us realize this earlier than others, a good thing imho. :-) You "fearfully" got on the scale? LOL! Don't we all know that feeling all too well. Since I have been hopping on every day for more than three years, I am fearless. ;-)

Hi Info. Yes, it's true my knees hurt regardless. After a long rest, they're only mildly uncomfortable :) I guess one would need to actually visit a doctor to know! I'm stubborn. I don't run, though, I've never liked it- even as a kid. When I quit smoking about six years ago, I knew I'd put on weight, so I began walking. I've been a very sedentary person most of my life, with occasional bursts of activity :) So walking felt great and I decided if walking felt great, how would running feel?? So I followed the urge and did ... well, I guess they're intervals. I'd walk for a couple of minutes, then run for 30 sec to a minute. This was a three mile route, by the third day I could barely move my knees at all and was leaving for a trip to NYC with my daughter and her art club from school in a week. Needless to say, I couldn't really do much walking for a while, and I'd ice my knees in NY every night :) (the trip was still incredible and it's amazing what you can push your body to do when you really want to!) That was the extent of my running career ... So whatever I did to them then has never actually gone away completely. And, most importantly, as you pointed out - from the day we are born we are getting old :) One day I'll be as fearless as you when it comes to the scale. Take care, my friend.

LOL! New York charges me up too, I could walk there without knees. ;-) Have a great day redwinelover!

You are such an inspiration to me. Maybe I will talk to my husband about going hiking next weekend.

I LOVE NY!! As much of a cliche as that is, I DO! That was my first visit and we've been back three or four times since :) You're pretty funny sometimes, Info! :D Multi- I hope you do go for a hike! Just start out with less than five miles, unless it's fairly flat. Here in AZ the trails are extremely rocky and lots of elevation change. But I love it!

I've always heard running - unless you have perfectly formed joints - can cause all kinds of injuries (my excuse & I'm sticking to it!). After my injury, the physio recommended icing when ever it hurt, & when it didn't too, to reduce swelling. Walking is the ideal exercise: low impact and if you live in a hilly city - like I do - you can get a good cardio burn going on. And for really long walks, the sustained exercise is a great fat burner.
