Yesterday went well in terms of sticking to my calorie limit, but WOOOOW was I moody yesterday. The only way I can describe it is "hangry." The guy who delivers our flyers on Thursdays always leaves a mess of them on my porch and it bugs the crap out of me. I've complained to the delivery company several times but nothing's really changed. Anyhow, yesterday, as I was about to leave the house, I opened the door to find the flyers had been delivered and were once again caught between the screen door and strewn over my porch. I was livid. I think the Hulk took over my body. I literally bellowed, "I AM SO F&%*ING SICK OF THE A$$HOLE WHO DELIVERS OUR FLYERS!!!!" I honestly scared myself.

The only explanation I can come up with for my crabbiness is the decrease in the amount of food I'm eating. When I talked to my sister (a nurse), she confirmed that yes, it would take a while for my body to adjust to the decrease in my caloric intake. She says in four more days I will have adjusted and things will be fine.

Well, I hope she's right... because the next four days are going to be a challenge for me anyway! We're going to Toronto for Pride, which is essentially just one big party. I am really going to have to watch myself and work really hard to stick to the calorie limit! On the plus side, it does involve lots of walking around, so at least I'll be getting exercise, too.

Happy Canada Day weekend to my fellow canucks!

tl;dr -- My family physician has set a weight loss goal of 10lbs in 3 months, by restricting my diet to 1200 calories per day and choosing lower fat foods as much as possible.

In March, my family doctor referred me to see a gynecologist re: my PCOS flareup and I finally saw him yesterday, after a nearly four month wait. One of the things my family doctor wanted me to ask about was starting on metformin; the gynecologist said there is not much point for me to take metformin unless there is an issue with my blood sugar, so he ordered a couple of fasting sugar tests which I did this morning.

Saw my family doctor today and gave her the low-down on everything the gyne and I talked about -- thank god my partner took notes! I had the lab CC: my doctor on the blood sugar results, so when they come in she will review and decide whether or not to start prescribing metformin.

In the meantime, my attempt at weight loss is now doctor-assisted. Given that I plateau'd at 42 lbs lost several months ago, and have been hovering around the 201 - 203 lbs mark since Christmastime, she says that she may just go ahead and prescribe metformin anyway, but she'll wait until she gets the results from the lab before she makes that final decision.

As of now, I'm on a calorie-restricted diet of 1200 calories per day, and our goal is to lose 10 lbs in three months. Bring it on.
