I was somewhat surprised to see the scale down a little bit today. I've been in a holding pattern the past couple weeks. We had a week off of work for spring vacation, which meant going out quite a lot. I was careful to avoid carbs (getting together with drinking buddies and not drinking beer is kind of a drag), but at the end of the day I really couldn't calculate my food intake. The bigger problem was that all those activities meant I didn't go to the gym for a week. Anyway, I'm back to work and my boring, but easy to maintain routine and I've been getting to the gym so hopefully this will finally get me below 220.

Hey! Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans and I are now the same weight! Only difference between the two of us is that he is 14 inches taller than me.
It's so good to finally break through the 101 Kg barrier. I floated around there for almost two weeks. Now I'm this close to hitting double digits.
How would this have gone over in your country? Here in Japan, people are generally kind, polite and non-confrontational with each other. But every once in a while, you run into some incredibly rude behavior that's kind of unfathomable. The other day, on the way back from the gym, I stopped at the local 7-11 for edamame and a diet coke for lunch. While I was standing in the line, the manager (franchise owner?), a middle-aged lady I often share pleasantries with, puts her hand on my belly and says 'isn't there something you can do about this?' Since there is no effective way to swear in Japanese, I was left with saying, 'but I've lost more than 10 kgs.' But I wanted to do so much more.

Funny thing happened at the gym today. I always weigh myself and check blood pressure when I go to the gym. I don't record it or pay too much attention. I prefer to keep my official weigh-in to once a week. Anyway I stepped on the scale and saw it was up 500 grams. I was expecting something like that -- I had overindulged in nuts the last two nights. On Wednesday, I made the mistake of carrying the jar of almonds into the living room with me. That's always a sure-fire disaster. On Thursday, I just kept picking up a few macadamia nuts every time I went to the kitchen. So I was expecting to be up. To tell the truth, I was expecting to be up more than just a pound.
So anyway, I went into the shower room and as I was sitting in the sauna, it struck me that I didn't remember seeing the 1 in 101.5 Kg. So after I finished in the shower room, I went back and weighed myself again. 100.5 Kg -- down nearly a pound and a half. Sometimes, you just never know.
