I had been an avid mountaineer, ice-swimmer, tech-diver and Muay Thai enthusiast before I tore my ACL in a sparring accident four months ago. I had to stop doing my favorite sports to give my knee the time to recover after the reconstruction surgery. These four months of inactivity saw me gain 40 pounds over my normally lean 110lb frame. Depression followed.
I am now in Thailand, trying to get back into fighting shape by going back to what 'destroyed' me both physically and psychologically - Muay Thai. It hurts, it isn't going smoothly and the weight isn't exactly melting off me, but I keep trying, one day at a time.
