Disapointed with myself
I've gained 10 lbs since September. I'm very upset and disapointed with myself. I used to eat a very strict low fat diet because my husband had hyperlipidemia. We got divorced 16 years ago and I went back to regular eating and gained a ton of weight. I'm 5'3 and 180. People keep telling me to go on a low carb diet, but I don't want a fad diet, I want to eat healthy and basically have a lifestyle change. Plus, I would rather eat low fat and keep the carbs. I rarely eat red meat. We usually eat chicken, fish or seafood. For breakfast I have 2 slices of white toast with spray butter, lunch is either a caprese salad or leftovers from dinner the night before,if there is nothing in the house I'll have a bowl of cereal or soup for lunch. Dinner is usually chicken or fish, we do eat out a lot which we need to cut back on. I also like to snack on dehydrated fruit, which I know has a ton of sugar. Since September I've been eating very badly. Right now we have a ton of leftovers from Christmas dinner. I made a Ham, I also made apple pie and bought cheesecake, cookies, candy. I told my husband I was going to just eat lettuce for lunch. What does everyone eat? What do you snack on? I love those caprese salads but they have cheese and olive oil, so I know I need to stop that. I don't fry foods or use oils except olive oil for cooking. My hubby bought me an air fryer for Christmas, I'm hoping that will help us eat healthier. any tips? My daughter is getting married in 6 months and I don't want to be this heavy at her wedding.

eating muffins
I have a wonderful, sweet co-worker and every Monday she brings the staff muffins from Panera. I've talked to her about how I'm trying to lose weight and eat healthy, hoping she would get the hint and not bring me a muffin, but she still does. Will it really hurt my diet if I eat one muffin a week? Or should I find a nice way to ask her to stop bringing me a muffin? Its so hard to ask someone to stop doing something nice when they have the best of intentions.

fat secret app
I downloaded the fatsecret app for my phone and I'm not sure I know how to properly use it yet. I like how I can scan the barcodes of foods in the grocery store and I can attach that food to my food diary but when I open my food diary on my desktop the food I just entered on the app isnt there. For example, I was in Meijer today and I bought a fruit and yogurt and granola parfait, I scanned the barcode, decided I would buy this and have it for a snack. I added it to my diary on my phone and when I got home and checked fatsecret on my desktop it wasnt in my food diary. Is there a way to connect the two food diaries? thanks.

Oil and a low fat diet
I'm not really on a "diet" but I'm trying to eat healthy. Years ago my ex hubby was told to go on a low fat diet by his doctor. We ate no more then 30 grams of total fat a day and no saturated fat at all. The only red meat we ate was venison or buffalo, we ate white meat pork or chicken and we did eat carbs (pasta and breads). Back then I weighed 110 lbs. We divorced 14 yrs ago and I quit eating healthy. I'm remarried now and when I weighed myself the other day I was 180 and totally disgusted with my body. I decided to go back to eating low fat, in one week I've lost 5 lbs. I'm not as strict on my current diet as I was with my ex. With my ex we used no oil at all, but people tell me that peanut oil and olive oil are ok because it has "good fat". I used peanut oil in a recipe last night and feel very guilty about using it. I was wondering if anyone knows the facts about peanut and olive oil, should I avoid them or are they ok in small amounts? I am on medication for high cholesterol and I'm hoping to get off of it if I can lose enough weight. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.
