So, I am back from my WONDERFUL trip to Buenos Aires, and I am back on the "healthy bandwagon." I lived with a host family in BA, so I had absolutely no control over what I could and couldn't eat. I tried to hit the gym a couple of times a week, but I still gained about 4 pounds. However, I am back home and on day 5 of no junk food. I did it before, and I'm doing it again. I just feel so much healthier when I'm not bloated from eating all day. Unlike the last time I lost weight, I'm actually on an eating schedule, and following it pretty well. I eat breakfast, 2 1/2 hours later I eat a snack, another 2 hours later lunch, another 2 1/2 hours later snack, then 3 hours later dinner. I'm following this pretty closely. Once I got past day 1 without slipping up, I was set. I've cut out all junk food out of life, and my snacks consist of ONLY yogurt or fruit. I'm also taking a shot at *gasp* cutting out RED MEAT! I already don't eat pork, so going beef-less should be simple as long as I don't buy red meet.
Advice to people trying to lose weight: If you want to lose weight, STOP buying junk food. It's easier to opt for a healthier meal/snack when you don't really have anything unhealthy to eat in the house. Pack lunches to take to work with you! I promise you, you WILL see results. When you're going grocery shopping, take someone with you who knows you're trying to lose weight/get healthy, and have them stop you from buying unhealthy foods. Even if you can't have anyone go with you, get motivated before beforehand. You ONLY need about 30 minutes of willpower to get in the store and get out without buying any junkfood. OR, make a list beforehand. Anything that is not on your grocery list, DO NOT buy. Good luck people!

PS: Reading recommendation- The End of Overeating by David Kessler. It will preset food to you in a whole new way.

This post is dedicated to everyone out there who has tried everything to lose weight, only to fail time and time again. People that haven't faced our struggle may look down on us, saying that we don't deserve apathy because we CHOOSE to be overweight. In reality, we choose to be overweight as much as others choose to suffer from anorexia, or drug addiction. Many people simply can't understand how hard it is for us to resist the temptation of eating when bored or upset. However, I'm just here to tell everyone to keep doing their best, and to never give up. If you keep trying, eventually something's got to give. I've been trying to lose weight for more than half of my life, and I'm only 20. I've failed more times than I can count, and I finally just gave up. Even after joining this website, I got up to 188 pounds. However, living away from my mother, I stopped buying junk food because I knew that I couldn't just eat one piece of cake, I had to eat the entire thing in a day. Finally, last week, I went to the doctor's office for a physical. Lo and behold, I'd lost 16 pounds. I was in a state of perpetual joy, and couldn't believe that when I finally stopped trying to lose weight and started trying to just be healthier, the weight just started falling off. So to anyone who is getting so sick of trying to lose weight, only to become afraid that it will never happen, please keep trying because I know you can do it. Someday, it will happen. Good luck everyone! Even though I haven't reached my goal yet, to see that I'm slowly getting healthier gives me a motivation to succeed that I've never had before. Once again, I'm wishing good luck to everyone on this site!
