I'm a Mature female, 3 grown kids and 5 grandkids. I quit smoking several years ago and did pretty good not gaining weight for about a year or two, then my metabolism just stopped working and I've gained about 15-20 pounds since then. I am now 54 and smack in the middle of Mental-Pause...I can't seem to lose more than a few pounds without getting stuck, frustrated, and then gain them right back - uugg!! I'm doing the "Low Carb - Higher Protien" diet (I hate calling it Atkins because everyone thinks all you do is eat Bacon all day). My husband is doing it too so that helps with meal planning. I LOVE this website, it's so easy to calculate carbs, calories, etc., and the Recipe section is terrific. So...that's me in a small nut shell.

SKINNY FIBER ???
Looks like another weight loss pill...I'm a sucker for all that stuff, so I might give it a try.

working out
PS: I had knee surgery a couple years ago, and I started out on the stationary bike, thats why I suggested it...nice and slow is the way to get started.

Maybe a stationary bike ride? Nice and slow, with the seat raised so you don't have to bend your knees too much.

metabolism
I'm a little late joining this conversation, but I too don't really care for a BIG breakfast...I do think putting even 50 calories in your stomach will wake up your metabolism (I read that somewhere so I thought I would mention it).

Induction Breakfast sick of Eggs suggestion
I love the BLT idea -- I usually have cottage cheese with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top (not a big egg fan either). I also love the pumpkin smoothy...I'm not sure I know what "4oz of canned pumkin" NOT pie filling is, do you get that at a normal grocery store? Sounds Yummy!!
