posterchild66's Journal, 31 December 2011

Well, its another weekend, and another weekend way off our routines. I am doing one spike/cheat day on my diet plans (Friday), and these continuous holidays keep trying to knock me off that plan. I suppose I can try to adhere to my goals as much as possible. Lots going on this weekend as well to divert me from my aforementioned goals. :-P

I find it hard to check in and weigh in also on the weekends. Like today, I am begrudgingly weighing in, but this is after a few cups of water, juice and a bacon and egg breakfast. I don't get up, and do the three S's on the weekends (Sh*t, Shower, Shave) for work. I usually sleep in, walk around and eat breakfast, then shower on weekends. I suppose I am not to much a creature of habit. Today the wife got me up at 0620 with her not feeling well.

Yesterday my Son's dear friend Noah had a birthday party, so cake and ice cream was consumed, and a few other sweets along with some sparkling wine (alcohol free). In addition I worked my butt off all day finalizing some leftover important stuff from our recent move. My son and I setup the surround sound in our living room and his game room. I got an awesome deal on a Yamaha receiver on base at $200.00, this same receiver goes for $450.00 on Amazon when on sale. It was one of those purchases the wife could not be angry about, turned the tables on her didn't I? hehe. Besides we had an old receiver which was on the fritz and would not adapt to HDMI inputs properly. Anyway, at the end of the day I was getting off the sofa wondering why my whole body was sore, and then remembered all the "work" i had done. While it may not sound like much, getting up/down off the floor I guess wore me out.

Today we are staying in and taking it easy. I also have my Dr. visit for my foot at noon. I spoke to a "healer" (Noah's Father) last night into massage and other holistic medicines, he acknowledged my foot is all inflamed. He massaged it, and we did some vibration therapy. I am sorry is something is tore/broken I think I need a real doctor. I am open minded about some forms of medicine, and do believe the mind is a most powerful tool when it comes to your health, but some things are actually broken and need fixing in a more "scientific" manner. So no late night drinking today, or champagne. Never been much into that scene on NYE anyway, too many morons out. Plus in Bahrain they want 30-40 Bahraini Dinar (75-100 USD) to get in anyplace anyway. Too rich for my blood.

Tomorrow we plan on cooking a ham, and having a few traditional "superstitious" items. Black-eyed peas and some type of greens. I love black-eyed peas, my mom grew up in Georgia and I was raised on them. Lots of people thing that's food for the "colored folks", but I never thought that way. I love soul food! I don't like greens though, but will give them a shot. Supposedly it means you will have money in the new year, sounds good enough to me to choke down a few bites.

Today I am grateful I can stay focused and open minded. I am also grateful for pork bellies and bacon, even though its 70 calories a slice (thick cut). I am grateful for my wife and kids and kitty pearl. Wow, I suppose I am grateful for 2011! What a great year it was! Nice 6 week holiday (not many people are lucky to trip like that!) which included a long stay at my favorite place, Disneyworld! Oh boy, lets reminisce today about the good days of this great year, and our journey. It going pretty darn good for me right now overall.

Hats off to 2012 too!

/Cheers, JP

I really like reading your journals, JP, you always have some good little stories and tidbits about your everyday life. It's nice to read, and it's nice to get a look at a real, "whole" person. I'd like to say thank you for that, enjoy your black eyed peas (Wife will cook them too!) and have a GREAT new year!

Thanks Keld, I enjoy yours too! I am waiting to read yours as I have an appointment, and it clearly would make me late.

LOL... sorry. On weekdays I normally journal super early - around 5.30 am Danish time, and weekends a little later. This last week I've been off from work though - and then anything goes. I hope you didn't make it late.
