Only lost a half lb this week. That being said I am near what is my "normal" weight (around 250). Getting below that usually required hard work. Although I have not been there in about a year, I am hopeful. I must stick to my 1500 cals, be dedicated, and hang in there.

We had an outing in the desert Friday with a cookout, snacks, and beer! It was great fun in the holiday traditions, albeit a new tradition for us. It was interesting and different, and I realized my colleagues and friends in Bahrain _are_ my family here. I got to snuggle and play with other peoples little kids, hang with my teenagers, and have a general good time. I was rather amazed in the way we all pull together as a team. The hangover Saturday was rough, and we ate Pizza, although my calorie counts seems OK, it just did not seem right. It was like having 2 cheat days in a row. I kind of blame this on my lackluster performance this week. Although it could have been the turkey burgers and basmati rice for dinner last night.

My wife is planning another event this week, which I must say, I don't want to go to. Weight loss today is more important that socializing and drinking, and I am not sure if that is good or bad. We are not socialites by any stretch, but our isolation on this island does make it rather unhealthy to hole up in our house and refuse invites. Part of me is saying "You can diet next week, its the holidays after all". That type of thinking got me into this mess! lol

It's good to see that you take your weight loss as a higher priority than outings, as long as you feel that you live life still. Never mind only losing half a lb this week - it's the long haul that'll get you there, and you're doing good. :) When you feel that nothing much is happening, push yourself just a little further - a little more exercise, a little better eating. You'll get there.

Thanks King! I have been dreading all the holidays since Halloween, lol. After that, Thanksgiving, and now seemingly weekly Christmas events, I am ready to throw in the towel. I inevitably drink way too many beers, and it makes basically a few days of poor choices string together. As for living life, yeah I am ducking out of normal society a bit, but its not far from my normal state. I tend to hang at the house with family, and play video games, basically what I have done since the 70's. I find I have the discipline to stay on track when my routine is pretty normal. Other than that, eating out, parties, etc, is where I run into trouble. So, I tend to try to limit or control those events. Just like an alcoholic may need to avoid bars, I need to avoid certain restaurants and parties. XD At least for the time being. Its what has been working for me.
