EGO; when a baby we have no ego. If we have a reasonably normal or healthy family, we still feel part of our mother, not separate. Everything we see or feel is unfiltered, and we are astounded by a multi colored ball, or pretty lights, & a growling dog will scare us. As we grow we develop an ego, which filters out things, protecting us. We identify then, with our ego. We think our ego is us.
But, our ego is only part of us, not chairman of the board.
As we age and if paying attention, we see that our ego is not us, and we learn to BE the chairman of the board of our psyche. We can stand back and see ourself as we interact in the world. This can be a reward for growing old. :)
I don’t revel in accomplishments. And as I age I’m becoming more aware how lucky I’ve been in this life, and that from others perspective, I’ve done some amazing things. To me, that’s not important, just interesting. and interesting that I never noticed. We take for granted the things we do & have done or are capable of. I only judge my behavior based on what I think is right. Not on what I think others will think or judge.
I don’t really judge, I observe, and perceive.
I encourage everyone to stand back and watch what they do.
Don’t judge ourselves, don’t criticize what we do, in other words, don’t beat ourselves up. No negative self talk, no should’s or what if’s, or if only’s. When we do that, we are disempowering ourselves. Leaving room for the ego to try to build ourselves up with false pride.
Self esteem can only come from the self.
and complete honesty with ourself is the way to true self esteem.
With that, we are strong. Centered, calm and peaceful. Nothing can faze us. We, the real us, can do anything we need.
