rebornfatty's Journal, 09 April 2024

It’s crazy to see I’ve been a member of Fat Secret for ~10 years. My weights been pretty steady between 160-170lbs since then, fluctuating based on my physical output. When I first started this I was a raging alcoholic, house in shambles, eating fast food and pizza. Drama w sons mother, it was hard to read some of that stuff. Grateful it was still there. Not that anyone would read this but my sons 12 now; I’ve been sober since 5/6/17 and the gf who left me we’ve been together for ~10 years since. Instead of being a degenerate gambler, taking a class or two here and there and taking work when absolutely necessary I now own my own small business which my son and gf help me with. It’s amazing how much things can change.

What’s weird is I’ve been a member in good standing at Planet Fitness for over a year. I’ve been doing cardio 4-5 times a week and calisthenics 2-4 times a week but my weight is always the same. Ive been trying to drop from 165 to 160 for what feels like forever. Just got back from vacation and I’m 168. So this time I’ll try to combine my exercise w an actual diet which I’ve been trying to avoid. I’ve got a trip to Rehoboth in June and I want to hit my goal weight by then. I can’t see what I’m typing on iPhone anymore
So I’ll end that here.
168.5 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 15.5 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Diet Calendar Entry for 09 April 2024:
600 kcal Fat: 9.00g | Prot: 29.00g | Carb: 119.00g.   Breakfast: Clean Chocolate Peanut Butter. Snacks/Other: Kashi Cinnamon Harvest Organic Wheat Biscuits. more...
gaining 0.1 lb a week

From my perspective the key to weight maintenance is to NOT go on a diet— they don’t work long term, but to develop a way of eating that is sensible, satisfying and that you can live with is important. That includes being able to have the things you enjoy in moderation and in a portion controlled manner. this is a lifestyle change not a diet.

Congratulations Reborn - what you've accomplished takes a lot of commitment and work. For the weight, it's all about using more calories than you consume - period. No amount of exercising will take the weight off if you're eating more calories than you're using. If you continue to keep your stamina and muscle mass by working out and you cut back some on the calories you should be able to get the weight off that you want. Good luck - rooting for you!

congratulations on being alcohol free. You should start strength training and just do cardio 30 mins a day. Eat 1g/lb of body weight in protein a day. Try to eat mainly whole foods and limit processed foods and I'm sure you'll start seeing results. You can do 3 whole body strength training workouts a week

Looking at your food intakes, you consume mostly carbs. RN16 is giving good advice. Try eating 1g/lb of body weight in protein a day.
