chels21's Journal, 02 April 2024

I am starting fresh this month. I have been drinking so much Pepsi it's disgusting. I have gained so much weight, I am disgusting. I have a new job and I need to be able to do things like climb a ladder and I can't right now without being embarrassingly out of breath. I have "graduated" from greif counseling and I feel much better about the whole situation. SO. I'm going to start slow, because my back is still an ongoing issue. I'm going to have weekly goals. THIS WEEKS GOAL is to stop drinking pop. I have gotten tea for cold/ice water and it's pretty good (I forgot it for work today so that's why I had the Gatorade with my lunch). NEXT WEEKS GOAL is to find a substitute for my morning iced cap cuz that's a lot of sugar I don't need as well. if anyone has any recommendations I'm open to it lol.

I love your commitment to small weekly goals. 1 step at a time is definitely the way to go. I used to drink alot of ice caps from Tim Hortons, so I started making them at home. That way u can control the amount of sugars in it, after awhile I moved from daily ice caps to every other day, to 2x a week, to now maybe 1 every 6 months. I bought Hills Bros Cappuccino French Vanilla mix (sugar free). I made it with almost milk or skim milk n lots of ice. Drops it from around 400 calories to under 100. Just an idea. Good luck on your journey.

Soda stream is a great alternative to pop. You can add lemon, lime or other fruits or use water enhancers like Mio.

You can use normal tea bags - like mint in your water bottle for 'free' flavour. I found that the folded (not sealed) paper bag type of tea become thick and a bit slimy. Tetley round mint bags are perfect!

Small weekly goals make this tough journey possible. This week's goal is to log every single thing I eat. No exceptions.

Salted Caramel Protein Podwer into black coffee is fantastic. Or chocolate if you prefer Mocha. https://ca.myprotein.com/sports-nutrition/impact-protein-blend/11181407.html These are good too: https://ca.myprotein.com/sports-nutrition/whey-forward-iced-coffee-sample/13953118.html

You will figure this out, Chels! I'm starting over in my life and restarting my healthy way of being. If you ever need/want to, just send me a message :) Similar to the suggestions, I loved Nescafe Ice Java (coffee syrup) has caffeine & sugar but much less combined with almond milk & stevia OR added to a vanilla protein shake! (I like the Diesel vanilla ice cream flavours with almond milk or coconut milk). Took me a long while to get off Coke Zero but my stomach really hates caffeine. Went from iced green tea (made at home) to iced herbal teas as I like them without sweeteners. Keep experimenting! You will find your way!!! Hugs :)

I'm doing a shake everyday with spinach, blueberries, strawberries, almond milk, apple, banana and I think it helps a lot :) I was 211 and went down to 207 in 2 days it's been helping to have more protein and less carbs.
