alanpfd's Journal, 06 April 2015

Last Monday was a day off, so I posted my weight and ran out the door without saying a word about the doctor's appointment. When I saw the diabetes doctor on 3/26 I was down 5kg for the month and both my blood sugar numbers were down to just a hair above the normal range. Very psyched about the progress.
This week I stuck to the diet plan, but I have been experiencing more hunger than I have up until now. It may just be boredom. One of the hardest things about Atkins for me is the lack of crunchy foods. After four weeks on induction, I've moved on to the OWL phase and I've added wonderful crunchy nuts to my plan, a quarter cup at a time.
One thing I do need to work on is I've been missing trips to the gym, here and there. It's always the easiest thing in the world to come up with a reason for not going to the gym. But my experience over the past couple of months clearly demonstrates that weight loss is the combination of diet and exercise.

I agree about missing the crunchy so I eat raw almonds when I can fit them in the menu. Great news about your blood sugar.

I agree with you and HCB about the crunch factor. Sometimes I HAVE to have it! I really like what I'm reading here about your blood sugar. My Dad was went from Insulin injections to a perfect diet with no medication and added years to his life. We can do this!

On induction I eat celery (limited) and pork rinds for that crunch. Then I move to nuts and seeds.

I wish we could get pork rinds here in Japan. Years ago, the first time I tried Atkins, we were able to get them on a US military base, but we don't have access anymore.

My daughter lived in Japan for over a year. Don't they sell dried seafood? I seem to remember it was crunchy. No idea about carbs...she called the bags "dried squiggly bits."
