Diana 1234's Journal, 20 November 2022

I haven't been working out for last 4 days...hurt my shoulder, taking off my jacket...go figure!! Who does that!? I have walked quite a bit but haven't used weights...I also have been snacking quite a bit! This time of year is hard! Shoulder feels better today so I'm going to do legs today and get back on track. Promised my nutritionist I would only weigh twice a week so I'll weigh again on Weds. We are meeting friends for Mexican food tonight...I hope I can find something decent. I usually get fish tacos and take them out of tortilla. Ive never been to this restaurant though so don't know how fish would be..could do taco salad minus cheese, used salsa for dressing, and no tortilla shell...
Have a blessed Sunday everyone!💜

Restaurants can be a challenge! I often go online to the restaurant website in advance to look at the menu and plan ahead what I'll order. Not afraid to ask them to leave stuff off, either. Went to an Indian restaurant recently, and lunch came with a giant pile of rice and 2 big pieces of Naan. Skipped the rice, stopped at one piece of Naan and took part of the entree home to my husband. All about mindset and the realization that nearly every restaurant serves too much food for one meal

ohhh no. that is so random. Hope you feel better soon. Yeah this is a hard time for dieters and maybe we have to compromise a bit. Why does your nutritionist think weighing less is beneficial?

Writingwyo, Our friends just cancelled dinner so I guess I don't have to worry about that. lol.. I did go online though but this is a brand new restaurant and couldn't really access a menu. They only had pictures of their combo plates. I usually bring my own dressing and I use Mission brand low carb tortillas and have brought them before. Most places are good about asking for substitutions.

Liv, My nutritionist would rather I weigh myself only twice a month, on the days I'm scheduled to see her because she says it's not about the weight anymore, it's about the measurements and what I'm eating. She thinks I'm underweight right now ( when I'm at 127 lbs) as I'm trying to get optimal workout results. I can't go that long so we comprised and am supposed to weigh myself twice a week. When I gain I start weighing everyday and that's not good cuz I get a bit obsessed. ( another reason not to weigh daily) I'm a work in progress for sure...💜

No worries! Muscles sometimes hold extra fluid when in the repair mode. You know what to do to moderate. Be well!

HCB, Thanks, I have heard that before..I'm thankful it was just a minor injury, I'm already getting better so I'll be back soon!💜

Good luck at the restaurant!

Diana, at 5'6" weighing 130 lbs. you're perfect on those height/weight charts. It puts you at a BMI of 21%, which is not even close to being underweight (18.4% = 114 lbs.). Are you also small-boned? If you measure your wrist with a tape measure over the knobby bone, a medium frame is 6.25". (Mine is 5.75" which means I can weigh less and still look & feel healthy.) Is your dietician heavier than you? My doctor is thinner than me and she fully supports a lower weight unless it negatively impacts labs or causes malnutrition.

Oh, Diana! Sorry your shoulder is hurt! Hard to believe how easy it is to do stuff like that. I pulled my back out in the shower a few months ago while shaving my legs!😂 Glad you are resting it and starting back with legs. It is eating season! 😱 Hard to keep the nibbling under control. As long as we stay mindful and do mostly good while staying active, we will be fine. Have a blessed day and enjoy the game!:)💜💛

Just bananas, my nutritionist is about the same weight as me but more muscular. She is also younger than me by 20 years. She is super knowledgeable about nutrition and training. I'm super confident in her and she has been great for me. She knows I want to get more muscular which is why she suggests I add a few pounds. She would like me to eat more protien, increase my calorie intake, and eat a cleaner diet. When I do that I've really noticed a difference. I've mentioned before that the clean eating helps my heart and auto immune issues tremendously. It's just hard to sustain that type of lifestyle all the time. She understands that and has realistic goals for me. I'm trying to find balance right now.

I just saw that she is a nutritionist, not a licensed dietician, so this makes sense. It's just weird that she has led you to believe you are underweight.

Sorry you hurt your shoulder! Ugh. It’s the weirdest quirky accidents that get us! Go figure! Does that restaurant have a la carte? You could possibly order items separately like steak and Mexican veggies? Or Maybe just only eat a small amount of chips v a bunch? Or ask if they have low carb tortillas. Ya never know now and days.

Stormsgirl, I think I can make a decent choice but you are right, I'm gonna have to be aware of those pesky chips! Our friends do d reschedule to tomorrow night so I'm making a pork tenderloin tonight with a salad and cooked spinach. I've decided ne really good today so far! My snacks have only been veggies. 💜💜

The chips are what get me at the Mexican resteraunt!
