Jenfar's Journal, 16 September 2014

Today is Day 1 of the elimination diet - yes i have decided to go for it - it is advisable to eliminate all forbidden foods from cupboards and fridge but i just did the shopping on Sunday and the other household members will definitely hate me if I had to clean out the stuff. I will try and buy less of t maybe i can wean them out too! So I have 10 days on this program, I should see results on Day 5. There will be severe withdrawal symptoms as I wean out of coffee, alcohol, tea with milk, sausages and some wheat products. I have already cancelled my Friday out with friends cos i know there will be alcohol and plenty of temptations so got it out of the way. It's only for 10 days, it's worth it! No pills, no canned, jarred or bottled food except for canned tuna, salmon or sardines, no energy drinks or energy bars, no dairy products not even goat's milk products, no grains and that's bread, cakes, muffins, even whiskey! (lol i don't like anyway!), no honey or sugar or sweeteners or substitutes, no chicken but capon is allowed, no citrus ie no orange lemon or grapefruit, nothing smoked, altered or flavoured. Just eat food as Nature intended. Well, I like this caveman's diet, a hunting i will go :)!

So it's only fruit, veg, fish and red meat? Why no chicken may I ask? I'm thinking of doing something similar but with coffee:-)

Fowl is allowed like Turkey, duck, quail, capon (Male bird), grouse, pheasant and ostrich. No chicken because this is not a matter of estrogens and antibiotics usually found in chicken (bad enough) but cross-reactions that can occur. Chicken and egg are, of course, the same animal effectively and sensitivity to one may mean a likely reaction to the other.
