Annabelle3117's Journal, 12 September 2014

Well hello, 180's, so we meet again. lol I'm not too worked up about the weigh in, I'm pretty sore from some strength training yesterday and I have been noticing a lot of changes that are non scale related that assure me things are moving the way they're supposed to. Collar bones are more distinguished, pants are very loose, lots more physical stamina, etc. It's a little early in the game to conclude whether the extra carbs are stalling a loss or not, so I'm going to keep doing what I've been doing for another seven days and see where it lands me next Friday. I'm in no insane rush, might as well give this 'balanced' eating a fair shot. I do feel like my skin looks better and I have a lot of energy now that I've been incorporating the fruits and veggies into my diet via smoothie.

Yesterday I tried to do some workouts via fitness videos on my xbox but I just wasn't feeling it. Videos have always been so hard for me to stick with. I decided to just do some full body strength training with my kettle bell, then I took the dog on a two mile walk. Woke up very sore this morning so I guess it's working. I noticed the other day on a long bike ride that my cardio stamina is back up where it used to be. My bike rides last week seemed a lot more challenging, ten miles this week was like a walk in the park. It's a rewarding feeling when you can be athletic at ease, unfortunately comfortable doesn't get the job done. I know I need to start stepping up my workouts with gym time. I need to sweat and breathe heavy. That will be my goal for the next seven days, three gym days. I'll start today.

Tonight is going to be leftover night for dinner, I've got plenty of them and the fridge needs a good cleaning. Oh, and my sweet potato with real cinnamon butter was to DIE for last night. Heaven in my mouth.

Oh, and one other thing I wanted to mention. Yesterday on socolova's journal we were talking about the sodium in meat because it's injected with that solution. I have been not salting anything when I cook it because my husband is a salt addict and he just loads it up with salt again whether I salt it or not. I made my chicken thighs last night for dinner, no seasoning at all and when I sat down to eat them I could taste the salt they process them with. I don't know if my palate has just become more sensitive to salt, or if I just never noticed before because I always loaded everything up with seasoned salt before I threw it on the grill but I found it interesting. Turns out I've been salting already salted meat this whole time. Give it a try, let me know if you can taste it too.

Well I think that's about it for me, but if you could do me a favor and say a prayer for my friend Kathy (ClassicRocker). I haven't heard from her in a long time, super worried. I would really appreciate it.

Thank you, and have a good day!

Sweet potato and real cinnamon butter does sound yummy. That slight up could be muscle after all we are trying to defy gravity and bring those dropped muscle back up where they belong.

The cinnamon butter thing would work good with an acorn squash too with a little brown sugar! How's things going for your son? Is kindergarten getting better?

Love processed meats but hate the side effects. In addition to salt, there is sodium nitrate which makes me swell up like a balloon. Guess we need to go out and kill ourselves a bear - LOL

You know ... it's amazing the bells that go off reading others journals. I kept thinking 'what the heck is it with this stall, body not changing, nothing nada, this time around and I now that YOU write 'it's okay' (so I'm blaming you if this fails, LOL) I am back on the fruit again ~ having a smoothie w/protein this afternoon (AND, I remembered the spinach in it and it's still fabulous) and I hope to see my skin pick up a little ... look a little better. Here I am rambling on your journal again but this is where the spark occurred, sorry :-) I generally don't season ANY food that I'm cooking except a roast - and that's garlic pepper but I can tell it has 'some' salt in it ~ but that's very light for the browning purpose. Yes, every meat has some sodium already in it.. and yes you can actually taste it when you clear the processed food out of your system. I find most restaurant foods over seasoned now.

I agree re bells going off! Bell went off reading your journal and realized I shouldn't always be focused with the scale, but with the way my body looks and feels. I think I usually do, but in addition to the way our clothes fit, we do need to look at at the ways our body has changed (is changing) and our stamina. Great points!
