Tulipgirl6's Journal, 02 September 2014

I usually don't weigh in this frequently; kids are back, and the house is warm; I was a little annoyed because hubby wouldn't even call or answer the phone! I am going to try not to let him get me stressed out. Stress does not control me. He does not control me. I am going to organize my life and my house, I am going to take things one at a time. I have been craving a cheese danish for weeks now. Just a bite. A mild craving. I was about to go out of my way to get one yesterday but didn't .. .. once in a while I just wan to eat something that's normal. Not a veggie, not a lean protein. Not eggs. My big thing the past week is sushi (no rice of course). I had a date and walnuts with my iced coffee. I could have had it and it would have been OK but thank god for the strength training and trainer! All that work for nothing? What I realized and the deciding factor though was that I would probably feel sick afterwards and I would get a sugar crash . .. . and would it really be worth all that???? No. So I went shopping instead. I was going to walk up and down a really nice mall near here and ended up in a new city sports store that just opened . .... Now let's see if this chart will turn green!

I'm happy to hear that you're gaining more control over your life, including the food you eat. Have you tried peanut butter or fruit for sugar cravings? Those things worked for me. Chocolate was my favorite sweet and I haven't had it in 2.5 years. I've had sugar-free chocolate coffee flavoring, but that's it. Have you tried sugar-free sweets? Not that they're healthy, but they might be good for your sweet cravings. The bakery at Walmart has a sugar-free section. Just an idea. It's great that you went walking at the mall and found the sports shop. It's awesome that you were interested in going in there, because it means you're becoming/are an athlete :)

Congrats!!! I did the same yesterday. Went to the mall instead of being tempted to eat anything around the house. With both hands. Got to the mall and shopped the 80% off Laord and Taylor sale and forgot all about eating junk. Rather than stopping at Au Bon Pain for a crossant, I went home and had an ounce of walnuts and a normal lunch. All I want is to get myself under control. I gained 12 pounds this summer.

Good job on the weight loss! You did excellent, of course, by walking the mall. When one of those cravings hit, try nonfat greek yogurt with a bit of vanilla extract and a little stevia. Tastes like cheesecake. Or you can buy the Jello cheesecake sugar free nonfat pudding mix, add a little to the yogurt, tastes just like cheese cake too. I try to go more natural than the Jello mixes because aspartme is in them, but it is just a tiny bit per serving. Helps to freeze the "pudding" yogurt for a couple of minutes or chill in fridge for a few minutes. My go to dessert is the nonfat greek yogurt with frozen berries and sometimes a teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa powder. Takes care of the chocolate craving, plus gives you nutrients and fiber. Sorry, I have no solution if you are craving the doughy bread of the Danish :)
