Asarver's Journal, 27 June 2022

It's amazing what one week of not eating ice cream will do 😂😂 Though I also tried to get back more in the mindful mode with all my meals.

I had a half Saturday and it kicked my butt. I didn't eat well enough morning of and the humidity was real. They only had water, I don't think I've drank as much water in such a short period of time. The last mile my stomach felt like it was eating itself and I thought I was going to pass out. But I didn't and I did manage to finish 🏃‍♀️

I've been overtraining I think, doing too much speed work in May when my foot issues started again and I just feel sluggish and tired. I've been seeing the PT for my foot, and she thinks the issue might be my calf. I've been trying to sleep better too. I have a half with my sister in law in Napa, and it's her first one so I don't want to mess her up when we run 😬🙃

Hope you all had a good weekend! 👍 😊

Good work! No ice cream/sugar is best for me too. In fact I avoid all sugary drinks & take electrolytes only for dehydration🏃‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️. Seems like you’re crushing your goals soon 😁

Ahh, I agree with you 100%. But friend, ice cream tastes so good, it's hard to stay away for long. 😆😆

Running a half in the summer heat would suck. I only ever did them in the Fall/Winter. Trained in the heat, of course. When's the one scheduled that your SIL is doing? And where?

Yeah, I already told myself I'm not signing up for summer races next year. It's mid July in Napa! The morning weather there looks nice, so 🤞 Are you going to do any halfs soon? 😁

@Asarver, all along California's coastline, the summer temps hold at about 75. Too far East, and it jumps 20 degrees. So just make sure the race runs close to the ocean. My days of running ended with my last race 3 years ago when I hyper-extended my knee, sadly. I still hike and walk, but the pounding the pavement fun is done. Stay safe and enjoy the time with your SIL!
