FitOKay's Journal, 28 April 2014

Down .2lbs from Friday and Saturday. I really expected to go back up befor heading down from 154. Not complaining about it though =p This weight makes it look as though the first returning weigh in was the anomaly.

I did wake up with a bad sinus headache and itchy lungs. Peak flow was down, which wasn't surprising considering how I feel. Ran a nebulizer and feeling better now.

Found out what Tball team my oldest will be on this year. He'll be 7 for the season, but because of the motor and social delays this will be his first Tball year and he will be with the 6 year olds to help limit the size and motor differences. Although size wise he will only be a little smaller then most the 6 year olds, being currently at 5% height for his age- woot! and he's made leaps and bounds over the last couple of years. I really credit Tae Kwon Do with a lot of the motor improvement. I know I'm his mom and suppose to think this way, but I don't feel his motor delays are nearly as obvious as they use to be, others tell me they agree- but you never know if people are being truthful or just polite, lol.

Anyways, funny picture of my boys when I was trying to get a shot to remember the milestone by. When I showed it to my husband he agreed- maybe most memory pics should be smiles, but this was just too appropriate to pass up, it's going in one of the collage frames of the boys on our wall =)

***EDIT*** I don't think it would let me post this in a reply, but these are pictures from the day my oldest did his pituitary testing 2.5 years ago and when my youngest did his last fall.

Despite the difference in camera angle you can see his height hasn't altered much compared to the table's in two years between pictures. The kicker is that my oldest stopped growing at a younger age then his younger brother, he was just much taller from the get go. It's why it took us longer to realize we were looking at a growth disorder with him also. He was such a big infant and toddler, that even when he stopped growing we thought, 'oh, he's just getting to a more average height'... 2 years later of now growth and blood work showing less then 1/4th the minimum (non growth spurt) growth hormone amounts, we knew that wasn't the case =p

153.8 lb Lost so far: 20.2 lb.    Still to go: 34.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Great photo! Karate is a great activity for kids with motor skill problems. My son has had motor skill issues as well and Karate was fantastic. Another good one was we bought a trampoline which helped with balance and coordination as well.

Thank you all. Deaby, he is BEYOND excited =) Thank you Jimenez. Glad to be seeing the downward trend, for sure Christina. Thank Sherrie =) Rugrat, I will have to keep an eye out at sales this summer to see if I can find one, hadn't heard of that. We had him in Swimming for a year because it was suggested as a good motor builder along with Tae Kwon Do, but he really hated it. We tried to get him to take swimming this summer as a 'summer thing' but he wasn't buying what we were selling, lol. Thank you Alex =)

Your boys look so happy! That is wonderful new about how much Tae Kwon Do has helped your son. My son did Tae Kwon Do with his dad for a couple years. My son is not very athletic and he worked very hard to achieve what came fairly easily to others. Now that my son is grown, thankfully he signs up for weight lifting in college and tries to eat better, but he is still stick-thin, lol. You must be a very proud momma.

Your boys are just adorable! I think they look a good size and like very happy kids! My girls were both born over the 95th percentile in size(lol) but have since levelled out both in the 50th now. Each child is different and yours look great!

Thanks Njashka. The oldest was really up there in size too before he stopped making growth hormone, I'll see if I can find a picture to demonstrate around here somewhere. But the oldest I think was going to be like his Dad's family (who at 6ft is the runt of his brothers who are 6'5", 6'3" and a 10 year old who's taller then my 5'3" already). The youngest I think, without the disorder would have been more average height. He is around 45.5 months old but he's the size of about a 22 month old. He will start growth hormone shots in fall as long as the abnormality on his pituitary (unrelated to the genetic growth disorder they both have) stays the same or goes away.

njashka, I uploaded a couple pics at the bottom of the journal entry above of the actual pituitary test dates, since that table kind of shows a stationary height for the youngest's comparison; while, it shows the oldest was much taller when he stopped growing. Even though he stopped growing at a younger age then his little brother did. We haven't been able to get him up where the doctors would like over the last couple years on growth hormone, but he's back on the charts, so we're happy =)

Dreamcathcer, when you are in the editor typing your post click on the square that looks like a mountain landscape. It will give you a start and end image tag. Then post your image url (that you uploaded in a group on here, on a blog like I took my pictures from or one a picture sharing site) and put it in the middle of the tags. make sure the picture is presized (why I like using blogger pics, because you can size them in the url) so that it fits on the posting screen.
