zebdavison's Journal, 20 December 2013

Wow! What a huge 2-day swing. Annoying, mostly. I'm off schedule because I had to work late the last couple of nights, and I snacked too much during those late hours. Also, I missed my workouts on BOTH days. Not good. Got to get back on the horse. Once I get back on schedule, I'll probably end up somewhere in the middle, around 186. I need to get there soon, because Christmas is almost here!

The good news is that my other primary measurement (waistline) is not bouncing around as crazily as my weight. My weight fluctuated 3.4 pounds in 2 days, or a 1.8% flux, but during that span my waist only bounced up a quarter inch, or 0.7%. Last time this happened, the two flux numbers were much closer. I am taking this as a good sign.

I took a good hard look in the mirror today. Sometimes we get so caught up in the minor stuff, like the big number on the scale, and forget to look back at how far we've come. I am still far from where I want to be, but I have come a long way, baby! This is why we do it. Why we work so hard - so we can SEE the progress. The numbers are great, and interesting (to me), but in the end, they are just numbers. What counts is how you look and feel. Do you look better than you did last year? Last month? How do you feel?

I feel great, my knees are improving - 25 fewer pounds weighing them down - and I don't look like a tub!

fyi on the weight loss and knees. For every lb. you lose, there is 4lb less pressure. So, it's actually 100lbs. off your knees. No wonder they're improving. Congrats.

I didn't know that about the leg pressure. Thanks Rocker!

Yeah, Rocker, I had no idea it was a multiplier, but it really makes sense! Thanks for the education!

Boy are those fluctuations a b**tch! I know ALL about it. Still, they're only just that - fluctuations. You can clearly identify what you have done if you did something wrong. Learn and apply. :) You're doing just fine. :)
