Delighted to see the weight continuing to drop. I was able to control my eating for six out of the seven days. Large slip on Thursday -- gotta stay away from restaurants.

The rest of life has been major chaos. My mom, who is 87 and lives on her own in California, was hospitalized for three days last week and after one night at home, needed to be placed in a rehab facility. Fortunately, my brother was able to visit during Thanksgiving and get her squared away, but I'm going to have to make a trip to see her during Christmas vacation. It feels selfish to complain, but I just spent three weeks in the States in August. I could do without the expense and the time involved in an unscheduled trip. Oh well! Life!

I didn't do as well as you. I am trying to be patient with my body which is just not cooperating. I have been so good. Sorry to hear about your mother. When they get up there in years it gets really scary, especially if you life very far away. My son was hospitalized last February and even though he is only 2 hours away I spent a fortune (to me) and huge amounts of time driving back and forth and the stress..well let's just say it added a few pounds. I was 230 last January and by the time he was back home and doing okay two months later I had gained 10 pounds. I had been good over Christmas last year and thought I had a good start on 2013 and could start my Atkins and really take it off by summer. No such luck. So you must acknowledge the stress and try to be extra careful that it doesn't throw you off altogether. I was not on diet yet when it happened to me...I had just been very careful about what I was eating so I could maintain and not carb load for winter and it had worked and then I blew it.
