I concentrate on the pleasure of being my right weight
I appreciate my body and take good care of it.

BEING THE RIGHT WEIGHT:-Theole

One of the biggest torments of many people's existence is the pain of weight gain. Our self-esteem can plummet as our weight inches upward and we inch outward. In addition, we know we are healthier, have more energy and feel better about ourselves when we are at our correct healthy weight. Why, then, do we ride the roller coaster of lose-gain over and over again? why do our good intentions about eating properly and losing forever those extra pounds often end in failure?

It is difficult to maintain our best weight partly because doing so feels like deprivation. We reward ourselves with comforting foods such as chocolate and starch, and when those comfort foods are removed we often feel depressed. (I heard from a buddy, depression is anger without enthusiasm).

Perhaps one of the secrets to happily being our optimum weight is to change the pleasure/pain link-up in our minds. Do we link losing and maintaining a healthy weight with the pain of deprivation or the pleasure of being able to admire our reflection in the mirror? Do we concentrate on the pain of giving up some foods or the pleasure of gaining more energy and being able to wear different clothes? Focusing on the pleasure of attaining our goal, and not on the pain of getting and staying there, gives us a much better chance of having the bodies we long for.

Allow yourself to sit quietly, eyes closed, and bring into your mind's eye a realistic and attractive picture of the way you would like to look. Visualize yourself at the perfect weight for your build, age, and lifestyle. Enjoy the picture of yourself at this weight, begin to imagine all the benefits you will have from being this size. Soak in the pleasure that reaching your goal will bring you, and gently encourage yourself toward it. TOWANDA!!!!

Thanks for this Lisa. It was just what I needed to hear this morning. Great motivation to get me out of this bed and get my body moving. Happy Sunday!

Yes! I liked that, Lisa. It's the difference between thinking "the portion I should eat is so tiny" or thinking "the portion I should eat is normal, what I used to eat and what most people eat is disgustingly oversized.". It is all in how you look at it.

Portion distortion is main reason why society is so fat. If you look at the palm of your hand thats about one portion or if you make fist thats one portion

My weekend has been so fun spending a lot of time here as I am doing various laundry chores and listening to classical music inspired by Information...Ah...to relax and regeneerate. I am gearing up for the next 12 weeks...If I lose 12 pounds at a safe rate of 2 pounds per week I could be at goal!...but working on Nelson's worksheet I realize the weight I still want to lose is a tool to learning how to keep my new habits in focus...afterall like k8yk says no matter if you have 500 or 2 pounds to lose we are all equal in what we have to do to attain the pleasure of being at our right weight and appreciating our bodies by taking good care of them. We are so worth making the changes....TOWANDA!!!!!!!!!!!!...

I'm doing chores too, and slowly consuming an enormous and delicious skinny soup I made. Low calorie but, I can't seem to keep the sodium down to RDA levels. Anyway, I can't do it all so my buddy the scale will just have to be patient. It's not like I am having tons of salt or anything, I've never had less. As long as I *know* that I am going down and I feel good, everything is OK. Be good as you get close to the end of the day Lisa, that's where 90% of us make our worst mistakes.

Beautiful statement Lisa. AND, so true. I think I am as guilty as any other, I have my favorite foods and when I eat them, I only think of the pleasure of the food, not the outcome. This has to change for permanent weight loss. I had a favorite dish Saturday night, and I knew it was high in calories. I compensated during the day and did pretty well holding myself from "pigging out". Like Info said, and I agree, the end of the day is the worst. If we don't PLAN, we eat whatever is easy & quick, and usually that is bad. I have more success by planning than anything else. Lisa, have a great evening and a better week.
