Annabelle3117's Journal, 17 July 2013

I thought I would appease fat secret, seeing as how it has been begging me to weigh in since Monday. I would like to note that when I did weigh in Monday, I was at 246. I had a heart attack! How could you gain eight pounds in less than seven days!?! My husband talked me down from the edge (lol) and reassured me that the majority of it had to be water weight and that it would fall off quickly. For the first time ever I have to admit that he was right. I have lost seven pounds since Monday, although they are not real pounds. I am hoping that I can land a three pound loss by next Monday, my official weigh in day. I'm three pounds away from hitting my fifty pound loss. We will see, but I had to share what I've learned so that the next time you're up a few pounds after a heavy and salty meal you will know that it will come off as quickly as it came on!
239.0 lb Lost so far: 47.0 lb.    Still to go: 0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Gotta watch that fluid retention, especially now that the temperatures are so high! DRINK THAT WATER! Believe it or not, it will help you eliminate excess fluids! And the day before WI,try to stay away from too much salt and too many carbs, that usually helps with a good WI. ;)

Then as women you have to add in those hormonal fluctuations as well. Those are SUPER fun to deal with...NOT! Talking with my hubby he was reassuring me that you have to look at the big picture. Little bumps are going to happen. You are SO close to 50 THAT IS AWESOME! Just think...go to the grocery store and pick up five 10 lb bags of flour or sugar and try to carry them the length of the aisle. You were carrying that amount every where you went. No wonder we are(were) tired! I am about 1/2 of your weight loss... I have been off and on paying attention to sodium intake. When I pay attention and keep it down it helps. I am very proud of you!

If I eat out over the weekend, just once, at any restaurant, I can expect a gain 3-5 pounds from water/salt. With lots of water it flushes out by Tuesday or Wednesday. As long as stay on track after that meal I'll see the true loss/gain by Thursday. I know they say you shouldn't weigh yourself everyday, but I do. I lost 70 pounds doing it too. I weigh every morning after I use the bathroom and shower. I have the scale in the exact same spot on the floor and weigh myself naked. I do that so all the conditions are the same everytime. I write it down everyday...log it here sometimes. BUT I highlight every THURSDAY. I only count my losses/gains on Thursday. You also have weeks where you just gain a bit or dont budge. Our bodies just want to hold on to that weight. I also believe in Set points... I think our bodies recognize weights were we hoovered or stayed at for awhile and it takes a bit to break past that to a lower level. I know that when I stop... I start slipping, but at the same time a gain like that can through off ones mental game. I truely think the mental messages we send ourselfs plays as big of a role as calories. I remind myself that it is a journey. It's up and down on the scale. I have to remind myself as well that it's not just about the numbers I see but also how I feel and about a longer term lifestyle and good health. It is mental health too. Letting go of the guilt of having some indulgences with food is okay. It is okay if we really found them calorie worthy indulgences once in awhile. I set up a Indulgence Jar. There are 365 days in a year and if I take 4 days a meals/deserts a month to really just enjoy it's okay there are still over 300 days left in the year. That gives me the mental freedom to enjoy a birthday, holiday or date night. I still try to make healthy choices even then. It lets me have that comfort food or cheesecake or date night meal without throwing in the towel or feel like I've spoiled all my hard work. It's when I stop paying attention, live on auto pilot to long, that I falter. You are well on your way. You have worked hard and you know it pays off. Your husband is right and sounds like a great support. Trust your body. Even if there is a bit of a gain, it's okay. It's one week in many. Don't be like me and look back (more then once) and say... I should have kept going. Be proud of yourself look at what you have done, learned and effort that got you to a loss of 50#. Concentrate on that and it will only multiple. You should be DAMN proud of yourself!
