Easing into induction, don't crucify me for not following 'The Plan' entirely as yet. I have to see what I eat regularly so I know what needs work instead of just guessing. Food diaries are new to me, I've known what they are but I haven't done one yet.

PLEASE understand that you can not "ease" into induction. Mixing carbs with high fat WILL cause weight gain. The reason Atkins works is because you lose when you cut your carbs to 20 net carbs or less while adding a high percentage of fat which allows your body to use fat (instead of carbs) for fuel/energy. If you eat high carbs as you did today & high fat you will gain. I know because I did the same thing when I 1st started. Even now, after reading both Dr. ATkins books many times, I still try to cheat on induction & I always pay the price.

The atkins induction phase is extremely difficult at times. Its okay to screw up sometimes, but make sure you learn from your screw ups. During my first induction phase during atkins, I cheated twice within 2 days, and I gained 7 lbs in 2 days from it, I learned from it and never did it again. So if I was you I would just eat how you normally do until you figure out your diet plan that will obey the 20 carb rule during atkins. Going cold turkey will make the diet much more effective.

I'm going to do this piece by piece and eliminating things 'til I get where I need to be. I am NO sort of fanatic so just dropping everything and pulling out measuring implements to live my life as if nothing else existed will NOT work. It will do the opposite, get me angry and frustrated, make me feel like I want to throw the book at the wall and be done with it. I HAVE done that before if I found something particularly annoying. I will try NOT to do it with this book because then I'd have to pay the library for a new one. :D

When you put at least 14 Net VEGGIE carbs in your diet, the weight will come off. I messed up the first time around on Atkins, but after I got the hang of it and the low carb recipes from this web site it worked out very good for me. I was 157 mid-March when I started back on this diet... today I am 135. Don't lose hope, it will work, just takes time and a few 'tweeking'.

PS: Stay away from potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, bread, pasta and processed meats. I noticed you had carrots in your diet calendar, they have too much sugar in them. If you go to the atkins.com web site, it will tell you what to stay clear of during the induction phase. :)

"I noticed you had carrots in your diet calendar, they have too much sugar in them." I've seen where they give numbers for carbs (20 net daily), but what are the numbers for sugars?
