Still not actively recording, but trying to be more mindful of what I'm eating.

Question for those who cook most of their meals: how do you handle calorie reporting? I used to make a "cookbook recipe" for each thing, so I knew exact calories, but it's A LOT of work.

Any suggestions here are appreciated!

I post individual ingredients. To me it's easier that way.

I weigh individual things like how much broccoli, chicken, etc.

That’s what I do, post individual ingredients, most of the time.

I also post individual ingredients, that's what has been keeping me from over portioning too :)

I have routine meals that I eat repeatedly so I do take the time to do recipes for those, but off the wall things I just don’t bother. I know what I put in them and I know how much I ate. As long as I feel that I’m in my ballpark, I don’t obsess about it.. it is very tedious. If you are trying to do flow charts, figure anticipated weight loss by what you ate last week or by some sort of foolproof formula you found on the internet, then I guess you have to put in the numbers for everything you consume.

Some meals have way too many ingredients for me to try to put them in individually, I would just make the recipe for it so fat secret calculates totally calories for me based on the servings I get. Like for today I just searched a random ginger chicken so I wouldn't have to add in everything, but I've no idea if it was close or not. :-| I could just not make complicated meals, but that makes dinner boring 😂

I made the best muffins last night— 18 ingredients. They were really good so I knew I would make them again so I did enter the ingredients in the cookbook. It also will help remind me that they are not a diet product so that I will save them for when I hike. High in carbs but also a lot of fiber. The recipe is called Morning Glory muffins. They will freeze great. Fruits, nuts, flax seed, etc.

enter each ingredient and create a recipe

I just find something similar that’s already in the system and overestimate how much I had in case the calories are off. Works for me so far ✌️

If you are cooking from and have the nutritional info from a recipe.. enter anything in the search...go to the bottom...add new food...your own brand...enter nutrional info. entering nutiritional info based on recipes that have it listed is way easier than entering specific ingredients.

If I make it, I actually enter each ingredient except spices. Takeout I just enter something similar. 🥡
