I tried for years, and promised myself I would stop, tomorrow when I gave in to the cravings again. then on 21 Feb 1998 I had a Heart attack brought on by,,,,, smoking! suddenly stopping, for me was no longer hard, with a six year old son I have now seen grow into a fine young man. it's hard but don't wait till you have a heart attack or stroke or cancer before you believe in yourself enough to know you CAN stop. good luck

Well done. Keep it up. The cravings only last a few days and in about a week or so, your body will feel the benefits.

The thing that really helped me was realising very deeply that having a cigarette did not remove or stop my craving, it was creating and strengthening my craving! Ken is right the nicotine leaves your body quite quickly, a couple of weeks max. After that it's just breaking the habits - something to do with your hands, reflex action after a meal or when upset etc. Find other better habits to do then instead. It's a depressant drug so you might find a backlog of upsetting emotions that have been damped down by the nicotine. I certainly did :-(. Get your friends and family to bear with you and give yourself space and support to get you through. It's not easy but you can do it and you'll live longer and healthier (and richer) for it. The other thing that really helped me was learning that the nicotine forges a new neural pathway in the body that the body prefers to use. Depriving the body of the nicotine is what causes the cravings. In a short period of time the body learns to use the original pathway again - BUT one puff!, just one puff of a cigarette and it's Yippee I can use the addictive pathway again and you're more or less back to square one. I promised myself I could start smoking again when I was so old it wouldn't matter too much :-) That was 22 years ago... Good luck!

Well done! I quit last year, it is about the urge and how you control it. Don’t go back thinking let me smoke once...it does matter. If you have quit, just stick to it!

Hope you manage, but please don't compensate by eating more. its far too easy to do and the reason I and many put on weight.

Well done, the ONLY way to quit smoking is to QUIT, not use supplements, vape etc... I did the same 24 years ago and never looked back first 2 weeks were easy weeks 3-8 were hell with cravings (especially after food or coffee) after that it feels normal to not smoke anymore,so bear with it you can do this !!!
