Got through the holidaze without going crazy, even though I cooked soooo much. The fam expects their favorites, cornbread dressing, ham, cracker toffee, ginger snaps, almond joy cookies...OMG, the cookies. I made my mother's date bars and cut them very small, had two and that was enough. But I also made a sugar free apple pie that my husband and I had when the kids were eating fattening goodies. I had a fruit bowl and a veggie tray for Christmas Eve that I noshed on the rest of the holiday. I also ate a lot of rage, because my family makes me crazy.

I walked a mile yesterday on the treadmill, but am now having knee trouble, hip pain and the tingling/paralysis in my thigh that indicates more nerve pinching. May do every other day to get back on track. Maybe I'll do some gentle yoga today.

I love when the holidays are over and the new years stretches pristine in front of us! Loving having my daughter home from college. We're playing a lot of gin rummy.

Sounds like you did well amid all the landmines (idk what "cracker toffee" is, and i think i am already addicted just based on the name). I find crunchy raw veggies will sometimes work for "rage eating." I am like you -- i love when the holidays are over and it is "j term." Have fun with your daughter!

In support, I refuse to enlighten you further regarding cracker toffee, because that's the generous kind of friend I am. Enjoy your j term!

Good luck with the gentle yoga; hope it helps the pain. My wife had a treadmill that I could not use without having hip pain- I can walk on asphalt OK with boots on. Your issues sound considerably more serious than mine, though. I'm glad I did not have to resist your cooking (sort of). Good job on your resistance!

Have you ever tried an elliptical instead of the treadmill? Easy on the knees!

Oh yeah, seconding hcb's suggestion of elliptical. My knees have been complainy since this last big weight gain, and elliptical is a main pillar of my workouts. Also i did look up cracker crack! I feel like i lost an innocent part of me, but ty for trying to shield me!

I find low impact aerobics like dancing are easier on my hip than walking. My knees don't like stair climbers, so I got rid of mine. I just type in "exercise dance" in the Youtube search and look for something similar to the old Richard Simmons stuff. "Live, Love, Party" has some good easy exercise dances. Here's one of their videos on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWfqFXTjKls
