I think that there's really something to eating high carb for a day or two to break through a plateau. I haven't been following my diet too too strictly for the past couple of weeks for a few reasons... and amazingly all I gained was 7 lbs. Went back on the diet on Monday and I was 257. Today I'm 249. That's 8 lbs in a couple of days! I hope I keep that up though I doubt it!
249.8 lb Lost so far: 100.2 lb.    Still to go: 99.8 lb.    Diet followed 100%.

High carb, low protein works as well as high protein low carb. Slimming world here has plans for both and you mix and match between them. Works great when you plateau as you said.

The same thing happens to me. Seems like when I get stuck in a rut, if I load up on carbs for a day, I will see a big gain but if I then go back to low carb, the weight quickly falls off again and I can start losing again. But just recently I noticed that if I do it too much, the carb cravings come back stronger than ever which is tough to overcome. I am better off in an all or nothing scenario when it comes to carbs, rather than bouncing back and forth between low-carb or just calorie counting.
