geo99's Journal, 11 June 2010

Lost 3 pounds this week so am quite happy about that. It seems so funny that last week I gained a pound and was not concerned and this week I lose three and wish it was more. We play stupid mind games on ourselves and it is frustrating. I read other peoples journals and can honestly tell them it is going great, BUT when I am in the same situation, it feels like the end of the world. My advice (to myself and others) is to just stick with it, results are happening. Some weeks the scale doesn't look as good, but clothes fit better. Other times, the inches stay the same, but the weight is down. It took years to get this heavy and it will take some time to get healthy. For myself, this is a lifestyle change and not a diet (although it seems like a race of some kind). I am not depriving myself of good food (I had bacon for breakfast), starving myself or missing out on life. I am learning about food, making smart choices and am now able to do more.

Wouldn't it be nice if we came to the conclusion that this is a life style change right away, rather than trying so many different (DIETS) before we figure it out. The same is true for me, this is a LIFESTYLE change, changing the foods I eat, not giving up completely those desserts or snacks I enjoy, just choosing wisely and adding those healthy things I have refused to look at before. Vegetables are my friends. Keep up the great work!! I also look for a change in the way my clothes fit, it is fantastic to experience a size change. I will be traveling for about 2 weeks, will take my computer along to stay in touch, I look for inspiration to all of you. Thanks, Nancy

I also want to say a big thanks to everyone on FS especially my buddies. I need to see other people with the same issues and challenges fighting the war together. To watch you guys succeed is what keeps me motivated. I will not quit and pray that you don't either. We can do this as a team.
