D'oh!

Good morning! :)

I'm in such a great mood this morning - I have slept pretty good and I just am in a mentally happy place. Not sure what's going on, but do I care? Not whatsoever!

I should be annoyed - I gained a TON of water. LOL. It's okay.

Wife and I decided that we wanted to treat Daughter (and us) out for dinner. Daughter is working HARD in her new school, and she asked if we could go.

So we went for Chinese. You know what that means. Sodium in EVERYTHING.

I mostly stuck to sushi and Mongolean BBQ, but still got a sodium kicking. I even woke up in the middle of the night, crazy thirsty. I think I drank a whole liter of water at 1 AM.

So, today I am two and a half frickin kilos heavier. Bummer. But you know what - we had a super fun evening, I know I might have gone over my RDI, but I definitely still had a smallish calorie deficit, and I did NOT touch stuff that I suspected would have sugar.

I'm pretty proud of avoiding the sugars, in a place like this, with desserts lined up. I just didn't touch them, but went for a cup of coffee instead. It felt good to do good.

I am of course disappointed that my weight has come back up, but I'm sure it'll be down again very soon. I'm not really bothered by it. I don't feel that I slipped or anything. If anything, I'm kind of disappointed that we spent all the money on going out.

Restaurants in Denmark are EXPENSIVE! For three buffets - at a very reasonably priced restaurant, mind you - along with two smalle sodas and a pitcher of water, we paid 485 kroner. This equals close to 100 US Dollars. However, we needed the day out. I think it de-stressed us all. That makes it all worth it. But as you can also see, we can't afford going out constantly. That's probably a good thing.

I put a nice little reminder to do right on my laptop and on my work PC screen. It's a subtle little thing, in "code" for me. It simply says "Walk the walk". Talking the talk isn't gonna get us anywhere, so I figured this would help me staying motivated.

So, today I have a ton of administrative work that I gotta do at work. I have one non-intimidating interview, and then I gotta dig deep in my stacks of paper. It's okay, it's a little mentally demanding, but I like administrative work sometimes. I think today is a good day for it.

I will also spend the day making some key notes for my weight loss class. I gotta find out how to make my first introduction to "my" system, and how to best sell it to them.

I know I gotta start with the kicker - my "before" picture on the big screen. This usually makes people start listening to what I am saying. Once they realize that I have been there AND done it, then they start paying attention.

So that's what in store for today. I'm gonna be playing some music before work, and then home to relax. It's gonna be a great day.

Today I am thankful for:
- Getting up on time.
- Morning coffe.
- The outlook to a great day.
- Not being (significantly) bothered by my weight gain.

Life is good!

i'm pretty sure you do well with your class. and starting with a before picture is always a good start. you did a great job and you showed me that it works. and that you don't have to worry if you once fall off the wagon - because you can climb back and walk the walk :) have a great day!

One great way to reinforce and ensure your knowledge on a subject, is to teach it. And, you will get the opportunity to lose weight WITH your students, lol. Honestly I think that is pretty cool. Anyone can talk about losing weight, or their past successes, but to demonstrate it, that is awesome. Glad you guys had fun last nite, sometimes those days are needed. This weekend/tomorrow is my time!

I had to do a quick conversion on an on-line conversion programme, so I could compare. It works out at just over £52 in UK pounds.... We would pay about that for a Chinese buffet in England... Sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on the quality of the restaurant. Interesting.... I think in the US it is much cheaper to eat out... Here It gets expensive..... Glad you enjoyed yourself :-)

Hi Keld! Chinese buffet is my weakness too. As long as I have a portion in my dish, I will stick to that, but when I see all that available food, My mind goes crazy and I heavily overeat. I think you are going to be a very good teacher! First of all you are a good example to follow, living proof that it's possible to lose 70kg within less than 2 years. What you achieved it's amazing! Then I see you are very good at motivating, not only yourself, but also all us FS buddies. Reading your morning journal really helps me a lot, not only concerning weight loss but for many other things. Thank you very much!

Glad you're having a great morning. Chinese is one of my favorite foods but I didn't have a good experience the last time I was at a buffet so I refuse to go back to one. That is crazy expensive for you to go out and Skinny is right, it is a lot cheaper here. But you need to do that every once in a while. Have you thought about recording you classes and posting them on line for all of us who are inspired by you? Just a thought. You could be the next diet guru and make millions off your dvds and books. :o)

Taping the sessions would give some issues with confidentiality for my students. Also, it would be in Danish. :)

My first thought when I read the amount was Holy S@$@ !!! The most I've paid for the four of us is probably around $30-$40 here in the US... That seems really expensive but worth it.... I LOVE chinese food :( That is why I don't go. I eat like a pig no matter how many times I tell myself I'm not going to. Best to avoid it. Good luck with the class. You're going to be an awesome teacher :)
