Yesterday I went over my daily allotted calories by about 200 calories because I went out with a friend and had dinner and drinks. However, I am turning it around today by having a grilled chicken salad for lunch and taking the same friend to my BUTI yoga class. I am slowly learning that one splurge every so often is not a terrible thing and it's something that is actually needed in order to avoid the feeling of being restricted by what I can eat. I've always suffered from food guilt because of what I ate and for the longest time I couldn't enjoy what I was eating since I was yelling at myself simultaneously. I am really trying hard to get over this and I focus on actually enjoying being healthy and knowing that I'm making the right food choices day to day. Choosing the right food at each meal is what really gives me that good confident feeling that I'm doing the right thing for my body. There is still room for improvement and I do try to create new goals, one of which is to have an active vacation when I go such as either making time in the gym or the excursions I booked for my upcoming cruise. I don't want to be the person who spends all her time in the port bar waiting for the time to get back on the boat and go to the next port to do the same thing. I want to get out there and actually experience where I am and treat it as though it is the only time I will ever be there in order to soak up the entire environment. This weekend I am trying horseback riding on a trail for the first time in my life and while I am definitely nervous I'm also a little excited to see how well I do with the activity.

Good attitude -- your way of eating needs to fit your way of life so it's a 'permanent' change and that will include meals out and drinks from time to time . . . have fun with the horseback riding!
