Good morning buddies!
And the hits just keep on coming! Remember that bee sting my son got on his foot yesterday afternoon? Well this morning he comes in my room at 0430 complaining of pain and itchiness, shortly thereafter he vomits and I notice he is running one hell of a fever. Delayed allergic reaction? I don't know, so I decide to air on the side of caution and take him into the ER. (why not, the kiddo has good insurance) Turns out that he has cellulitis on his foot caused by the bee sting. I remember learning about cellulitis but the details were hazy to say the least. Turns out it is a bacterial infection in the skin pretty common in childhood that can be caused by many things, one of those being insect stings. These infections can get very bad very fast, but luckily we caught his early. So lots of antibiotics, rest, and warm compresses it is. Guess i can't drag him off on a long walk today!
Rather than making a follow up appointment for next week with the pediatrician I made one for tomorrow. I have pictures of how it looks today, and I'm going to show them to the doc for comparison. I want to make sure he's good to go Saturday, because I've got a trip to the zoo planned and I don't want to end up back in the ER over the weekend.
What an excellent experience, I will always know what cellulitis is now :)
As for today, my MIL is supposed to come over to use the pool this afternoon and bring some beef and sweet corn for dinner. I'm making pasta salad that I may or may not partake in. Probably wont be as many steps as I'd like, but hey ya never know. I've surprised myself before.
Have a good one buddies!!
