I went to an appreciation dinner tonight and I know I went over my calorie budget- by a lot even- but I am proud of my success. I think I did a good job of not over indulging. I didn't eat until I felt stuffed. I had a roll with butter and a piece of cake, but I didn't snack on the cheese and crackers and fruit- I opted for veggies with a small amount of dip. I passed up lemonade for green tea. During dinner I passed on mashed potatoes and shepherd's pie and got steamed veggies, salad, a small amount of tuna noodle casserole and some chicken drumsticks. Had I known there was breastmeat I would have gone for that, but I was trying to take small portions and avoid the processed carbs. It would have been better if I had not gotten the roll, but I capitulated there. Overall I think I exercised a good deal of restraint at the dinner and am proud of myself for it even if it doesn't show well in my food diary. Again better to be honest than kidding myself about what I did eat.

I think you did just fine also. Appreciation dinners are so hard....when we went to the one for the volunteers at church the only thing we could eat was the salad. Congrats on using the restraint! :)
