I was doing some reading on the health and weight loss benefits of ginger. There was a study done at Columbia University that followed men who drank a ginger tea with breakfast; results suggest it helped suppress appetite, aids in digestion and may boost the metabolism. I'm going to start drinking it each morning, started today. The study used 2 grams of powdered ginger, about 1 teaspoon, to make a strong tea. It's really potent so I'll do it over 2 or 3 cups combined with herbal or green tea. Time will tell, we'll see how it goes. I sure don't feel hungry at the moment.

My wife has decided not to continue outpatient physical therapy for her knee, I'm not sure that's the best idea but it's her decision. We're going to get a recumbent bike for her to use, it would be something I'd use too for exercise - especially in the winter or if weather is bad. Hopefully this evening I can spend some time checking out what's available and figure out our best choice.

I'm almost back down to where I was Friday with weight after over-eating on carbs/calories over the weekend, I feel like I'm more back on track today. Every day the production facility is cooking food for testing so that has been a food distraction I've given in to some. Today I've got my food planned and that stuff isn't on the list, just got to stick to it.

It sounds like a recumbent exercise bike would be great for both of you.

You might try adding a 1/2 tsp of ginger into a small portion of low carb vanilla yogurt. I find that its a nice desert with a very pleasant taste and gets a good dose of ginger into you right before your overnight fast.

Ginger is a different idea. There is a lot of information about ginger, but this is the first time I've seen anything that it might help to lose weight. Worth a try, especially in yogurt.

Please tell your wife to keep up with the physical therapy. I stopped way to soon and now, almost a year later for the left and two years for the right knee, I am back to physical therapy. I do have to add that I had severe vascular problems which are ongoing. In between the knee surgeries I had a rotator cuff surgery, not successful, also tore my right rotator cuff, having physical therapy for that as well. Not complaining though lol. Like you I have played music all my life, several bands, led worship and still on a worship teem playing keys. All the best to you on your weight-loss and to your wife for healing. That will take a while, don't let her overdo.

I have a NordicTrack recumbent bike, use it almost every day, very good exercise for the knees.

Thanks everyone for your comments and support. I think my wife will be ok, she's way ahead of the norm with her range of motion, the nurses and therapists all said she's done the best of anyone they've seen. My opinion is that she should continue therapy but anyone married knows how that that stuff goes. I've said what I think but it's up to her and she's made the decision. She's over 120 degrees at this point, I will keep some pressure on to continue with the exercise bike once we get it...looking for a used one on Craigs list if possible. That's a great idea putting ginger in with yogurt, going to give that a try. It might be more palatable than the tea, that's pretty strong.
