Gnewfry's Journal, 20 July 2014

i think i should start weighing on wednesday. i always weigh a little less during the middle of the week. i was 2 pounds lighter this week in the middle.

still mostly not hungry, which helps a lot. i did get WAY hungry yesterday because i didn't eat lunch. but it wasn't like i was going to kill someone, and it wasn't like i was going to pass out, and it wasn't that i was going to shut down emotionally, like it used to be. i think that's because i've been eating less sugar. and then when i ate, i ate reasonably and was full soon after. i went to panera, and boy do their sandwiches have a lot of calories. really good though.

I think it is awesome that you are getting so in touch with yourself and are able to guage your different levels of hunger. I also have found that eating fewer carbs and cutting out sugar has made a huge difference in my hunger levels.

I have to think of hunger and satiety like this: the hunger signals are in need of and waiting on specific nutrients before they will shut off. If you eat lots of carbs and sugar and empty Calories (processed foods, etc.) that have lots to them but little in the way of vital nutrients, then you will still be getting those hunger signals all the way until you fill every ounce of space in your tummy... then misery follows. However, if you eat something with high fiber and good sources of protein and vitamins, then the hunger signal is happy very quick and shuts off. VOILA! (Just avoid those delicious snacks calling your name). I have quite the sweet tooth and I have found that it is satisfied with a couple honey wheat pretzels dipped in nutella (cocoa and hazelnuts).

Rule of thumb, when you know you are going to have a busy day, fix something the night before that you can grab so hunger doesn't overtake you and you ruin the week. Keep a pack of nuts, and a piece of fruit in your purse as that will hold you until you are able to get somewhere to get something to eat.

I love Panera.. we have sales reps bring it for lunch now and then... I don't have any carbs for dinner when they come for lunch! but so good!
