Oh how I've missed you all… so much! And, hope you are doing well in your healthy eating & living journey. Life continues to keep me busy, and happy for the most part. I'm doing great and really enjoying having both my sons home for now even though it keeps me hopping. My recent college graduate has accepted a job in SC, so to add to the busyness, we are now planning his move there as he'll start work there on 7/28. DS & I may go down early next week to find him an apartment.
The not so always happy part has been my Mom's deterioration into Alzheimer's. We all just got back from a visit to see her. She's regularly mixing up the day & time, and now 2 or 3 times each week, she calls me late evening or during the night thinking it's daytime & confused why what she wants to do isn't happening. She twice was found outside of her apartment during the night -- once she was looking for my aunt who was picking her up to take her to lunch & once to go to her manicure appointment. We got her a new big, bright digital clock made especially for Alzheimer's patients which clearly says the day, time & am or pm. We'll see if it helps. I met with the head nurse at her retirement home & they are checking on her throughout the night & logging her sleeplessness & confusion. I also took her for a physical & the doctor is changing her meds and added an antidepressant which may help her sleep too. She sleeps a lot during the day now & complains thats she's always tired, so we'll see if this helps. The next step is to a secure floor in their nursing home section (which she does not want) or to hire a private nurse to stay in her room throughout the night. We're waiting now to see how this progresses & then will decide.
July will be an even busier month for me, for in addition to the regular work & household stuff, we have DS's move, a week long family vacation with DH's 2 sisters & their families, a graduation party for DS just before he leaves & some house renovation projects (which may have to wait until Aug or after), plus MIL purchased a new condo & is set to close mid Aug. I'm exhausted just thinking about it all! But, I'm going into it in a good place eating & health wise:). I'm eating gluten, lactose & sugar aware --- not always completely abstaining, but staying curious & remembering the ill effects these foods have on me. And, I'm finally & happily relaxing about what I eat & focusing on staying healthy while enjoying life, and especially this special times with both my sons. They were so good with my Mom during our visit, and she was so happy to spend time with them. And I'm loving the everyday banter that fills my home now. Both boys have girlfriends which has added to the fun & activity.
Even though I don't write it daily, I'm continuing to start in prayer --
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen.
And, I'm praying, breathing, expressing & taking care of me throughout each one day, meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion. I am & always will be so grateful for each of truly wonderful & amazing you! I miss you all & hope to catch up as soon as life allows. FS is a special place & I'm lucky to have it to come back to, and think of you all & FS as our special place and home away from home! xoxox
