Okay, so I'm about to spill everything out to you guys right now.

3 months ago, I went to Coachella Music Festival with some friends. At the festival my whole frame of mind changed. I went with no intention of dieting after it was over. I just went hoping to have a good time (I had a fantastic time). But something changed my brain and I can't figure it out completely but this is the conclusion I've drawn from that weekend:

There were a TON of beautiful, skinny, young girls. Now while I may not be handsome or skinny, I am young. So there's one thing going for me. While I was attending, I think that I was subconsciously thinking to myself that I didn't really fit in to this massive group of people because I didn't look like them. While driving home I came to the realization that I want to fit in; I want to be able to get a girl.

Now, I'm 21 years old and have never been in a single relationship. There are two main reasons for this. A: I've never had the confidence to be in a relationship and B: I've always thought that no one wants to date a guy as big as me ( and I obviously still think that).

So I've decided it's time. I want to find myself a girl that I can call mine. I know this sounds so shallow and stupid, and it probably is, but you have to put yourself in my shoes. Not a single 1 on 1 relationship with another human being. Well the time is now. Thanks for reading my crazy rant and I hope there are people out there that I can relate with.

Motivation comes in many forms but from beginning to end make this about you and your health. I hope with improved health you will gain the confidence to get out there and date. You can do this! Congrats on the 2.9lbs down.

I get what you are saying. Sometimes it's like we are holding ourselves back from participating in the life we want. I feel like I settle sometimes when it comes to men because I don't fit in with the Coachella crowd either ;). Don't settle. Go out there and get it, the experience that you want, and THEN get her too!

It's NOT shallow and I guarantee that as you move along in your journey and gain self-awareness and self-confidence and strength, you will become the best version of yourself - it's not about the weight as much as the things you learn along the way. It's a challenge that will strengthen you in so many ways! Congratulations on making this change early in your life and good luck!!!

Well I agree with everything everyone has said so far. I would like to add one or two things. First one is Thank You for sharing your story, I am sure it wasn't the easiest thing to say. Second, In my opinion, you have to want it for you, although I completely get where you are coming from. Once you are happy with yourself, everything else that you want in life will come naturally. Awesome job on the loss!!

I think that it is best for you to lose weight for the reasons of health and confidence. But when it comes to being with someone they will love you for what is on the inside. I am hoping the best for you!

I don't think you are shallow or stupid at all. This is a safe place for you to share your hopes, dreams and even fears - and hopefully also a helpful place for personal accountability which I know I need, too. Weighing in and journaling are excellent for that. I think it helps a lot to be positive. Your are chasing health - not trying to be less overweight. Does that make any sense? Good luck.

Your doing great so far. Just remember that the right one will love you skinny or fat. Mine does. But they will want you healthy as well and you'll want to be healthy so you can be with them a good long time.
