Annabelle3117's Journal, 22 April 2014

Greetings, fatsecreteers! The universe tried to throw me for a loop this morning when the other provider for my sister texted me to let me know she couldn't work this morning because the power was out at her own house, and she didn't know how to get her kids ready for school. Seriously? The bus will still come at the same damn time whether your power is on or not, what do you mean you don't know how to get them ready? Dressed, fed, out the door. It's not rocket science, you have to adapt. UGH. So I had to cancel my son's kindergarten screening so that I could go get my sister up and on the bus. That was my chaotic morning. Back at home now, and trying to get my thoughts together for another day of living the dream.

Yesterday Hoss and I went on a walk down a new trail. We had a time limit, we left at noon and had to be back at home by 1:30 so I could pick my son up from school. On our way back to the vehicle I was a little nervous that I had gone too far and wasn't going to make it back in time, but we did :-)4.3 miles total, (1hr 18min) I even managed a little sunburn. I'm tanning up like crazy now, it's in my genes. It was a wonderful walk through the woods, which have always felt like home to me. It gives me an opportunity to really reflect, and to see something beautiful in this mess we call life. I could stay out there for days. Of course about a mile in I realized I was in the middle of nowhere, with no one around, and no protection other than my dog (who is probably relying on me for protection)... and I thought to myself I should probably get something to carry with me on those walks. Pepper spray, a taser, a prison shank... something lol. When I was telling my mom about how much I love it out there she said the same thing, that I shouldn't be alone out there, I actually agreed with her. This is huge because in the past whenever someone would voice concern for my safety I would always tell them to shut it because nobody would be interested in bothering with someone as fat and disgusting as me. Messed up, isn't it? You can see I truly valued my own life. I guess I am learning to love myself.

All of that activity put me at a 3000 calorie burn according to my Body media armband, which I still love oh so much. So I hit my daily deficit and then some. No worries, it will even out on other days when I'm not as active. My activity for today is going to be a kettle bell workout with my dvd, and my fifteen pound bell. Maybe some additional dumb bell work for the arms. My goal is an hour a day, it's time to get some strength training on! So that's the plan.

Oh, and I stuck to my original intake plan with minimal alterations throughout the day, a big win.

I hope everybody is off to a good start this morning :-) Have a great day!

Enjoy your walks but definitely put your safety first also make sure you protect your skin too. I vote prison shank and pepper spray by the way, LOL.

The other provider probably just had one of those any excuse not to go to work days, because I don't know how the power going out at your house wouldn't allow you to get the kids ready. That walk you had sounds wonderful, I love walking through quiet areas like that. Usually I have my music going, but even in town when I don't I love hearing the birds chirping and all of the sounds of nature and just take it all in. I agree though that you want to be safe while you're out there. If you're like me and watch all of those crime shows and see the amount of people who are attacked in the woods, you definitely want some protection. Great job yesterday!! Now go kick butt today too! :)

I admire you. I used to go hiking all the time when we lived in Illinois but now I don't have the guts. I'm too afraid I will look tasty to a bear. We see one or hear of one at least once of twice a year so I know they're in the area. I wonder what you take with you when you're afraid of a bear.. I don't think the shank would work but maybe the pepper spray.. or a giant candy bar I can throw in their face then sneak off in the opposite direction.

I am glad you had a great walk. Hope you enjoy your workout. I agree you need some kind of protection when you are on your walks, even if it is a thick stick.

Pepper spray is a good thing to have on you. I know the feeling of doubting that anyone would want to mess with the fat girl (though weirdos probably aren't too picky), but I take into account muggings as well, even if I'm not carrying a purse.

I don't understand what the power being out has to do with getting the kids ready for school at all. It sounds like a lame excuse of someone who couldn't think up something better.

Your walk sounds delightful! You are such a hard worker when it comes to exercise and your crazy kettle ball workouts! I found these "keychains" on Amazon that look like kitties but have really sharp ears for gouging of eyes or stomach stabbing. I was going to buy one for me, my mother and my sister (who has run into some crime lately) but I guess they aren't airport friendly, which wouldn't work for my mom or sis. That could be on option for you because they don't necessarily look scary on your keys, but would work as defense in a pinch! (I think there might be dog shapes, too!)

Man! You must live in a nice place. Sunburn? The only way I'll get that for a while is if I get out the mig welder.

I live in Ohio, NM, and yesterday we save mid seventies and sunny. Today, and for the foreseeable future we have 5-60's. Better than your snow lol, but not exactly tanning weather either. Those sound neat Meg, I will have to google them and see what I come up with. DFW, I believe the standard protocol for bears is to carry along a pic-a-nic basket :-) I agree Mars & Dawn, frustrating when other people leave you hanging, especially when she knows I won't leave the client, my sister, hanging.

I will go with taser, bought one for my daughter because she likes to walk all the time in what I consider victim here hours. Enjoy your day Yolanda :)

I feel the same when I ride my bike thru some neighborhoods around here - it's a little scary the route on the way to my Gson's junior high could be labeled 'meth-town' or something. So far everyone just waves at me like it's a parade. But I am thinking about some self defense besides my scowl.
