Russian12Mafia's Journal, 15 April 2014

It's getting harder and harder to not think about food and wanting to go out and eat like I used to. Chinese buffet, pizza, soda, burger and fries -- they're all calling my name louder and louder. Missing my old large portions too. So far I've only gone over my RDI by a little under 100 calories the past two days and I'm willing myself to stay strong. Since I will be moving across the country this Friday I wanted to have everything packed up (including dishes), by tomorrow and just go out to eat for dinner for the next three nights. Meal choices while we're on the road for two days are going to be full of temptation, that's for sure. I probably won't be on here for a couple weeks until I get my internet set up. Until then I will try my best to record my meals on the phone app.

Stay strong and committed, Russian12! You are retraining your mind and better so that both will be healthy for you in the future. Nothing wrong with skipping chips for strawberries. For me not to be hungry (yet terrified to eat), I've had to stick with the recommended portion and really vary my food choices. I cannot eat plain green salad at every meal, but I did make cannellini beans, with kale (olive oil and red pepper flake) and whole wheat linguine. It was tasty (protein|carb|fat|veg). If you're eating meat, one or two strips of bacon or prosciutto (chopped) would flavor the whole dish. I believe creative cooking is key. Maybe try keeping out one large skillet with lid and buy paper plates and forks to carry you over.

This Friday will be three weeks since I started and they say it only takes 21 days to make or break a habit, so hopefully it will get easier after that. I'm the type of person that can eat the same thing for weeks on end if I like it enough so I don't know if variety is necessarily my problem. I just know I have my favorite foods from before that I can't stop thinking about and wanting to eat. (Cherries Jubilee and my made-from-scratch chicken broccoli fettuccine alfredo are some of my most recent pinings.) Ah, well, I just need to slow down these next few days and get my mind on other things (like moving!) :)

Yes, I have Paul McKenna's book, too. I watched his tv series I Can Make You Thin. He's really motivational. I admire how he has helped people with fears and phobias.
