Annabelle3117's Journal, 15 April 2014

Good Afternoon!!! Very busy morning has put my journaling behind. Yesterday was a very good day food-wise, 1600 cal, carbs under one hundred. Which leads me to my next thought, I am still in no way a low carb dieter. :-) Wayne is right. I'm way to much of an athlete for that; I would never last lol. I'm just cutting back for a little while, choosing healthier carb options. Constantly switching up my diet is one way I try to avoid plateaus, and after the high cal/high carb week I had it only made sense to switch it up.

I decided to get with the program and kick my fitness back into high gear this morning. I went to the gym right after my a.m. work shift. I started off with upper and lower body strength training, jumped on the elliptical for an insanely intense twenty minutes. (2mile) Then I hit the track to do some running. Generally I run on the treadmill, but I hear that is kind of like cheating lol since you aren't actually propelling yourself forward. My first couple laps around the track almost killed me. I was thinking wtf, I'm not new, it shouldn't be THIS hard. Then this little skinny thing went jogging by me at a slower pace. I immediately thought of Mar (mars2kids) who once said that she struggles most with keeping pace. AH HA! It was then that I realized that every time I ran around the track I was sprinting. No wonder I couldn't maintain that speed. So I worked on finding a pace that was closest to the 4.8mph I do on the treadmill and wah-la, I was able to run over a mile straight with no immediate death. Whoop Whoop. I left the gym with a ninety minute workout under my belt, feeling like a million bucks. Oh so proud.

Came home, ate some lunch, started some laundry, then headed out to go grocery shopping. I have since returned, put away all the damn groceries, and am enjoying my free fifty minutes to myself. I don't want to go back to work!!! Honestly, I just want to take a nap lol. Woke up to SNOW on the ground, it's freakin freezing. This is hard to swallow seeing as how we were in the mid seventies over the weekend. My birth month is bipolar, just doesn't know which way it wants to go.

I purchased the third book in the Divergence trilogy today lol, and even recommended the first one to a woman in the store who was contemplating buying it. When I fall in love with a book I fall hard, and I feel like everyone should experience it. Taking the first two books to my moms tonight so she can read them. It's a welcome escape from reality for me.

Well I'm pretty tuckered out, and I should eat something before I go so I better get on it. I hope everyone is having a good day. :-)

2 Miles on the elliptical in 20 Mins? That is ALMOST not possible! lol I do the elliptical almost every workout for 45 mins and very rarely EVER get to 2 miles... you must have it on a low resistance ;) LMAO... GREAT JOB Yo! You're KILLING IT ALL AROUND!

I agree with Millerm, that is fantastic on the elliptical machine. It takes me a 1/2 hour to get a mile in, so I know your busting your butt on it. Very Very Proud of you!!!!!!

Thank you both, I do always go as hard as I can trying to get the most bang for my buck. When I first started I wasn't able to hit a mile in under thirty minutes, and I was almost dead by the time I hit that one mile mark. Fitness has been a huge part of my journey, very proud of how far I've come.

Good for you!! My hubby runs at the gym on a treadmill and then he'll run on the street and he definitely notices a difference. He feels like he can go faster on the street, but it hurts his legs more. You are so amazing, I probably would have done the upper and lower body workout and been done, but not Yo she goes out and kicks more butt! Tomorrow I'm going to think of you when I don't want to get my butt out of bed in the morning to workout.

You know.. thinking about it .. sometimes when Mushy feels like sprinting when we're walking and I do so to keep up with her it actually seems a little easier than on the treadmill - but although I'm a klutz on both I think the sidewalk is tricker because it's not flat / smooth. A track may be interesting. I'm only a runner if being chased but I think the dynamics of genuinely moving through 'space' rather than the same area on a tread may be inspiring.
